Mine goes something like this:
-Idea!
-Write it down
-Plan out how to implement said idea.
-Start to make the game following said idea, using the RTP as placeholders for everything.
-Once game is >10% done, post a demo to see how others like it.
-Gather feedback.
-Make changes to game based on feedback, OR scrap it if it looks like it cannot be fixed.
-Repost Demo.
-Repeat the last 3 steps as needed.
-Make the next parts of the game.
-Once game is >25 - 50% done, gather resources. Replace the facesets, music, sprites, tiles and icons with final versions.
-Hire outside help if needed for that last step.
-Decide if any scripts are needed that are missing, add them in NOW. It will only get worse to do it later. And this will mean restarting all my saves, but its a good time to playtest the game.
-Playtest the game, check for inconsistencies that creeped up. Write them down in the game's master document.
-Fix any that need to be fixed. Wait a few days before fixing them though to make sure you aren't being too critical of yourself.
-From there, work on finishing the game, playtesting, getting outside playtesters, and getting all final resources. Usually I do a massive playtest from start to finish about the same time I complete a Chapter, just to make sure it all holds together.
