Hey Everyone!!!

I'd like to share with you all how I make my games easily, and stress free!!!

Step 1: Write down ideas...

Grab a notebook and a pen, get a nice cup of coffee, and sit at your desk. It's easier to do it when you first wake up when your is refreshed.

Step 2: Set Goals or a Schedule

Once you have your ideas... Write down accomplishments or a schedule. Like this-

Rpg Maker 8-10

1. Add door events.

2. Fix Parallel Process Even

3. Finish Basement

4. Make Balcony

5. Make Password Protected Door

Step 3: Take Breaks

There may be points where you are stuck and don't know what to do. Just take it easy... even sleep on it if you have to.

Step 4: Test it

Test out your whole to see if there is any issues...

Step 5: Done

Give yourself a pat on the back and show to family and friends!

Hope this helped!!!

I Love y'all

-TheDen

This would be enormously more impressive if you actually had anything to show in the way of actual projects, preferably complete ;)

Usually I just wing it.  Although, right now, I've run into a bit of a stigma where I'm trying to figure out what's best for town looks and I have to go back and change tiles from RTP to Mack since they look far better, mostly for the dungeons.

I won't be releasing this current title on here, it'll be only for family and friends, so this project won't be available here.  Maybe my other one will be though.

Personally I just do game bit by bit each day and try to ensure that I have an idea how the story should continue.

I build everything in my game around the story. I don't have anything in my game that isn't necessary. What I mean by that is like when it comes to the aesthetics, everything you can visually see and interact with in the game will be there for a reason, whether it be a key plot point or just something small to increase the atmosphere or sense of reality. No random merchants for no reason other than just having them there, stuff like that. If there is a merchant somewhere, you're going to know story wise why that merchant is there, at least from an immersion perspective.

Everything needs a purpose! Good thinking!

In other words, you wing it. lol

Coming up with a storyline is easy enough, but keeping pace and finishing the game is the harder part for me.  I can make a story for just about anything and finish it...in my head, but making a game around it is harder, especially if the story moves faster in my head than it does to work on the game. lol

I don't exactly just wing it. I have overall plot already in my head and I improve it as more I do the game.

It is also important for my storytelling style to not plan too much in advance.

You know your twist is Shamylanic if it even catches you, the writer, by surprise ;) .

How I do it:

Red bull + Great pulsing music + "OMG this game will be cool" -> I don't want to do anything else for hours and hours and hours

Mind you, I'm far from obtaining the "magic" every day (a pity...), but just get a few days like that and the progress is awesome!

I gotta admit. These character designs/looks are also part of the motivation to keep pushing forward.

It is pretty dull to write a story if you don't like a characters.

I agree that when you wake up, your mind is refreshed. The funny thing is though, I came up with a couple good ideas for a title when I was about to fall asleep last night.  :)

That's a quite normal. People usually bring something with them to toilet so they can do something else too while on a toilet.

Well, the majority of things that come to me while on the toilet are usually unmentionable, unless you're into stuff like that, and ideas for stories, gameplay mechanics, musical melodies and random ideas that equate to an epiphany!  The bathroom is a place of peace (most times) where no one can bother you and you can think.

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
