Hiya,I'm new here and I'm hoping to find some answer. It seems to me that PDEF values in player armor actually doesn't matter at all at least in RMXP. For instance :My mage has a PDEF of 60. My fighter has a PDEF of 150. There are no elemental resistances of any kind. However, in battle against an enemy with STR 50 and ATK 50 they both take around 150-160 damage per basic attack - there doesn't seem to be any difference.

(I should mention I use the Enu sideview battle system, though I haven't touched stats at all)Is there something I'm missing? :p Do the numbers simply not add up that way (though I am using the base Bronze armor for the fighter)? Thanks in advance!

RMMV
Does the same thing happen when you are not using any custom scripts?  If it does, can you show screenshots of your fighter and mage in the Equip window so we can see all their stats?

Without any custom scripts, my fighter takes 0 damage (as expected). So that's a custom script issue, as I feared :s

Their stats are there :

Okay! Problem sorted. Sort of.

Apparently the version of the script turns PDEF into a percentage of damage blocked, rather than the standard RMXP formula. I found a way to change that back.

Basically, the difference here was that the mage blocked 5 percent while the fighter blocks 15. With the variance noise it isn't immediately obvious but I ran a series of tests and the average for the mage is indeed slightly higher and she does seem to block about 10 percent less.

I'm thinking of actually keeping that formula now I understand it, since the task of avoiding damage entirely falls onto EVA and DEX (which is made a bit beefier) and instead you've got to upgrade your armour to reduce the damage by more - and I have to keep that in mind for enemies, some of which players should NEED to upgrade their armor against lest their attacks quickly overwhelm the party.

Anyway, thanks, and I'm leaving that here if anybody needs the help :p

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
time for a new avatar :)
