Well I've never been much of an artist, sure I've been a mediocre musician since I was practically a toddler (I'm now not really comfortable calling myself a musician anymore, college has been keeping me busy) and I've been a habitual doodler for all of my school life (I've gotten pretty good at doodling 2D drawings of stick figures riding mechs during my middle-highschool life). But now that I'm more into game design, I've started to... well more like... trying to... expand my horizons in the art world. I recently got a Wacom tablet and Photoshop as well as... obtained ZBrush for 3D sculpting. (obtained is as vague a word I can use to describe how this came about in my possession.) Hopefully with these new tools I can grow as an artist, but who knows, I may just be awesome in another field that I'm not aware of yet! So I'm not awesome yet! But I hope I will be, fingers crossed

I'm not awesome. I'm just a fan and a dreamer about this whole RPG Maker thing. I have no prior experience with making games or writing code or making music or making characters or making maps. I'll probably never release a game. I just like to have fun playing around with RPG Maker. I loved playing RPG's in the 80's and 90's when I was a kid and find the whole idea that I could possibly make my own game--again, I probably won't complete a game--very... uhhh... awesome. :D

Hey now, I consider the incomplete demo in my sig to be a 'released game'! Granted that's idealistic but still.  :)

Thanks for all the replies everyone. Makio-Kuta, I will give pots and pans a shot (We'll see how long until I'm kicked out of my apartment)! It's just so inspiring to here from people who've been at this for a while.

Ha I'm far from awesome and I'll never be awesome in any form. Never finished a game, terrible artist, terrible music producer, terrible everything, heck I want to be a voice actor but I know there will be people way better than me so whats the point? Even the people that lurk here are more awesome than me. You stay awesome and keep at what you're doing.

I've been trying art and music since my main point is scripting... I'm gradually learning art I think, but for music, hmmm... it's just really hard, maybe the fact that I'm a bit tone deaf (I think at least) makes it harder

as for how long I've been awesome, hmmm... since Alastor took me...

I am awesome given human form, and this has been the case for at least a few years now.

My artwork would not likely impress a 5 year old.

My music makes primitive drum beats sound like Beethoven.

My writing...  well let's just not go there.

But I have fun doing it, and that is all that matters.   BD

So much humility in this topic.

Guess this means most of us are not in awe of ourselves.

At the same time who is in awe of us and when it started (if at all) is hard-to-know information.

As a heuristics/guideline I would not recommend using "become awesome". It feels like something that will easily lead you astray. Instead my recommendation is pretty much a repeat of what's already about focus on learning and self-improvement.

*hugs*

I've always been drawing it seems since I was a kid, and I mostly taught myself. The few classes I had when I was really young were not all that artistic xD but I just really enjoyed it and have been doing it my whole life on and off, sometimes taking a few years between taking it seriously. I am not awesome yet to be sure, there's a lot of areas I fall short in since I taught myself, I guess I was  too lazy about it and skipped out on too many basics haha! I'm working hard to learn how to draw anatomy better, and environments, but I feel like a scrub sometimes to be sure.

It's funny everyone's saying they're not awesome, people I consider pretty awesome :p I think being unsatisfied with your art but still willing to grow is the key to being a progressively better artist. Never settle with your skill level haha.

Personally I heard about RPGmaker around 6 months ago, and hadn't even tried pixel art before that, but I'm learning as quickly as I can. I think you have to have a passion for what your learning about, it helps you to learn faster and understand the concept if your excited! So loosen up, have a cup of tea/hot chocolate and learn what you don't know! It's been said many a time but practice makes perfect and if you don't know it yet I know with some work you will learn to do whatever.

I might try Ruby next....

I'm not good at English. So I don't know if it sounds OK when I say I'm awesome.

I first made RPG about 20 years ago when RPG Maker was far more simple and very easy. Now things got very complicated and I feel tired of setting all the tiny details and preparing every resourse by mytelf. I just draw graphics for now.

Any human has untapped potential. I'm more of the people that thinks you can do whatever you want (of course, being the best of the best at all it's impossible, but I think all people can make the things they really need to instead of putting the bar at the infinite).

For me, I've always been doodling with stuff. Like, making "games" with Excel or batch files when my Windows went kaput. But the time when I feel I started to take the direction I think it was when I met RPG Maker 2000 (yeah, dark past, I was 11, I don't know). Previous to that, surely, I did some drawings (all my life, my notebooks have been full 90% with drawings). Surely, I used Paint (x'D). But with RPG Maker I did start to make edits, and stuff, and then thought "well, this is cool!".

I think the change was determined for that realization, that I actually want to do this things. It's different being interested in making games all your life, to actually think you want to devote your life to this. And then work hard!

And, yeah, something like that.

Well, I heard somewhere that only God is awesome. Perhaps it's true. In any case, I'm still not an artist. Sure, I've written stuff since I was a kid, but never actually finished a story. I'm just now learning to draw, too.

It depends on the meaning you give to the word "awesome". Or more specifically, the "awe" word. You can take it like giving respect because of their personal achievements (aside from the respect people deserve by default -?-).

Anyway, I was thinking again, and wanted to share something else. To be "awesome" you will undeniably fail. Several times. But you must prevail at the end! (?). Yeah, it's real men matter! (metaphorically speaking, so "men" includes women too).

I was awesome the second I was born. Talent is something you're born with, by the way~  A natural winner in a field.

Some are born as rulers, some are born to be ruled.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
How many parameters is 'too many'??
