1. Bundle

2. ???

3. Profit!

But yeah, before you think about selling your game, you should have something to sell in the first place.

As we know, Steam Greenlight isn't any indication when it comes to actual quality, nowadays getting greenlit is so easy, so you might not get that great sales even if Valve greenlits your product.

Also no offense but based onto your first post, you might not be ready to sell games.

Errr if profit for your game comes from bundles, it means a ) your game is not very good b ) you have to thank the other games that were in that bundle

Bundles should be the last option to make money, direct and steam sales (where your game has to stand on its own) should provide bigger income.

I was an indie game developer for 10 years. Out of those 10 years, only 1 year generated any profits for me ... and it wasn't much. In 6 of the 10 years, I barely broke even (meaning the business paid its own expenses, and that was all), and 3 years were losses for me. Those 9 years tell the same story as probably 95% of indie game developers.
That's really harsh. Were you full-time developer? Solo or team?

You have made a lot of games! Was it enough to live on that income in your country? (France, right?)

I've lived in several places in Europe. It was/is way enough so far, I lived on that income from day 1 of Laxius Force release. :)

Sorry for bothering you again, but I counted the games in your website, 20 games in 7 years?

So 2 rpg games in a year?

That is very fast O_O

Thanks for the compliment. That's actually much closer to 3 a year.  ;)

I could have made more if I had worked harder... Except for 2009 (which was really 11 months of game making out of 12), I always focused more on my RL than game making.

I never sold a game myself, but I know for a fact that if you try to sell one- you have to think like the customer.

"will people buy this?"  "does this game look like worth paying for?" "will it be fun?"

Obviously big name games make there money mostly because of the content they have, what makes them memorable- after which that point if a game spawns into several sequels I.e Elderscrolls people will most likely buy them because of previous selling titles. Simply put if you have made a game- make sure there aren't any bugs ( ones that prevent progress altogether preferably) play and complete it, and even better try to get someone else to play it out and see what you can find out what needs to be changed or added.

I do agree to an extend that first games do not sell. But there is that chance if you spent enough effort and time into one, you can have a potential product.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
