I will be honest: I have played exactly 0, ZERO, RM games in the past year. I use to play a lot of RM games, but I found I enjoy making games more than playing them. Also got quite busy in RL, so that's where I am. I do plan to start playing RM games again sometime in the future, just not sure when. I was wondering how everyone else is doing. So here's the poll!

GUIDELINES
1. You can't count games you made. That's part of the game making process. You can only count RM games made by others.
2. Games made by any engine in the RPG Maker series (2k, 2k3, xp, vx, ace, MV, MZ) counts. Oh. And let's not forget 95 and all those console ports.
3. It can be commercial, non-commercial, borderline legal fan games, or even adult games. As long as it's made in RM.

Starshift by Psychronic Games, Origin Hunt by @Cythera and Trailblazer, but I dont remember who made it.

I played Trailblazer for about 4 hours, its extremely engaging. Great dialog, great battle system. The characters are very well written.

I've put about 4 hours into Starshift as well. The feel of the game world in Starshift is spot on for me. The battles are fast and fun. Plus, it has a tactical battle system for ship battles that adds nice depth. The character selection in the beginning is great, the way they pitch it to the player is brilliant.

Unfortunately, I've not put much more than 45min into Orogin Hunt but its still on my radar. It's one I definitely want to sink some time into.

I used to try a lots RPGMaker Games. I believe that there are only a handful number of people who tried more RPGMaker games than me.
That was in the past, when I was really hungry to study every interesting tricks which I saw from others' games. Recently, I only played a few of them. Not many Rpgmaker games can impressed me these day.
One of them that I can't mention enough, is this. Hat off to the dev, fabulous work they had done there.

Play? Probably four or five. Play long enough to remember things like characters, plot, and the actual names of the games? Two. They’re what indirectlyish what got me started on RPG Maker to begin with.

(No, I’m not naming either game, but suffice it to say that neither of them would ever be allowed to be shown here on the forum anyway. <.< >.> <.<; )

Oh, I have been tagged! Hwello! :yhappy:
Aww, people who play my game do more advertising for it then I do lol! Thanks haha; I look forward to any feedback you may have for me!

As for the post question, well, I've been stupid busy and haven't had nearly as much free time as I used to, but I have managed to squeeze in a few RM games: Working through Spellzone by Soulrender right now; aside from the grammar and spelling issues (I don't think dev is native English speaker) it's got some cute quirks and some twists on mechanics.
Still waiting on Sempiternal by Reinarc; that game has a bloody amazing combat system that can really challenge players. The download was removed while the dev works on some key points, but once it's back up, I highly recommend the game.
And I'm also working through all the boss battle bout submissions. I gotta know what kind of competition I'm up against :ywink:
I also played my friend's RM game, Emberheart. It's not here; he has a discord for it. Then I made him sad by barreling through his game under levelled and under equipped...whoops.
Essentially, I'll play any game where either the dev or players state it's challenging. So far, only Sempiternal has hit that mark for me. Devs need to make more difficult games...
If anyone knows/has a game with soul-crushing levels of difficulties...let me know.

I have to admit, the main motivation for me to play some games was the "Touch the Stars" event. As there were many cool entries with a short playtime it was ideal to get some inspiration without playing for hours.

Last year would be 5 games, 7 if RPG made in wolf engine is counted.

In the past year? Maybe 4 of them. As much as I do like maker games, I'm not a fan of the usual turn based combat (Which is why Dungeon Rummage doesn't have that) So the selection is rather limited for my tastes.

Pretty much none. I get so invested in making games, I often forget to play them, LOL.

I would guess around 20. I'm a curious creature. But almost all of them I played for less than one minute. If your game doesn't have WASD movement, then I stop immediately and delete it from my hard drive. It's a deal breaker.

I don't care how interesting your characters are, or how much time you put into the battle system. If I have to reach my left hand over to the right side of my keyboard to work the arrow keys, then I'm not playing. And most RM games don't have WASD movement. I'm not that curious.

I have no clue. I played a few shared here, some from Itch, and a couple on Android. I'd guess that I played through only a dozen or so all the way through.

Funnily enough it's the opposite for me. Have WASD movement and no way to change to arrow keys => instant delete, because WASD is unplayable on my AZERTY keyboard.

I despise WASD, LOL. I play a lot of old games and platformers, so it's gotta be arrow keys for me, or a combination. (Also, WASD doesn't have too much of a point to it if you're not using the mouse) Mind you, I just play most games on my controller, so it doesn't matter *that* much.

 All of the RPG Maker games I’ve played have been right hand on arrows, left hand on shift, Z, and X. I should just plug my controller in and do it that way, but frankly I can’t be arsed most of the time — and that trend is only going to get more ingrained while I test on my own projects. <.< >.> <.<;

I agree with you especially when testing my own games. Eventhough I have a controller, I find it more convenient to just move with the keyboard instead of bouncing between controller and keyboard during short playtest+debug sessions.

If I plan to play a game for real though, I use a controller.

I miss my old one handed controller I got for the SNES. It was perfect for RPGs. I should probably get one for my PC.

I haven't kept track but, they offer a more personal and intimate experience as opposed to AAA games. Not saying AAA games are bad but these are people on the ground floor just like me so I can relate to it more.

I've played over 100 rpg maker games but took a break. They blend in after a while having generally the same mechanics and art. I do know a lot of devs rather make games than play them though. Hard to find time for both.

That moment when you're getting a new update ready, deploy it for the final round of testing (gotta make sure the deployed version runs, ya know?) andddddd there's a visual blip :ysrs: Doesn't impact gameplay. It's only on-screen for a few seconds. But you can't leave it there.
So now you have to fix it, then redeploy, then retest. Why do I do this to myself.
So I'm reading a sci-fi book called Berserker Man. Now, the 'Berserker Man' isn't a man or a Berserker. He is actually a very calm 11 year-old-boy. So misleading title. He was recruited to fight these emotionless killing machines called Berserkers. Also confusing. I will read it until it starts making sense.
A few tweaks and changes, now the load screen is literally loading :kaoswt:

I tried a new thing.
