I have been researching this topic, and I keep seeing posts made that say to press the "F1" key to change the key binds when playing an RPG Maker game. However, whenever I press F1, in the editor or in the game, it just brings up the steam overlay. I can't seem to find anyone else who is having this problem. I'm not sure what to do from here, any thoughts?

F1 doesn't seem to work in MZ, at least through Steam. Have a look at this plugin: Mano_InputConfig. It's a keyboard and gamepad configuration plugin.

That looks really promising. I'll give that a try. Thanks so much for taking the time to point me in the right direction!

I remember some old RPG Makers, when launching a game... right-clicking on the window bar had an option called gamepad.
It could have been an old reference and no longer valid.

It was a good suggestion, but like you said, it may no longer be valid. I just opened the game up and right-clicked the crap out of everything (not just the window bar). It didn't work for me. o_O

I think Kipling said it best.

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss,
(...)
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And—which is more—you'll be a Man, my son!

Do you feel like your modern cities are too clean? I made some dumpsters and trash variations. Visit my MZ resource thread (link in signature).
Doing clean-up on tall-ified sprites, filling in pixel by pixel where the stretching warped the image, feels incredibly tedious but also highly rewarding when one zooms out and the sprite looks even better than before.
