The default RM2K3 executable is "RPG_RT.exe". I want to change it to "MyGameName.exe". But I notice that the following files seem to be linked:

- RPG_RT.ini

- RPG_RT.ldb

- RPG_RT.lmt

I just want to make sure do I need to change the filenames of these as well? Or is there a better way to do this? Thanks!

This has been a commonly asked for feature for a long time.

At this point, you can't legally change those settings in any RPG Maker without violating the EULA.

I'm tired of always having Game.exe myself. You can always make a shortcut, and rename the shortcut, but that's about it at this time.

Actually, it should be perfectly fine to change the RPG_RT.exe's filename in terms of EULA (especially considering the patch EULA, although this isn't even a patch or anything!), however you will get some issues:

- It won't work correctly in RPG Maker.

- You have to create a copy of RPG_RT.ini and name it the same way you named your RPG_RT.exe, but *the old INI must still be there*.

Basically, you are not supposed to do that, from a technical standpoint :)

What's the problem with "RPG_RT" anyway? If you have a game installer, it creates a shortcut with your game's name.

The EULA issue is changing the icon, not the name.

Just change the name.  If it doesn't work, it might give you an error message that might hint at what needs to be done next.  If you change all names and it doesn't work, it's not going to be a difficult thing to change them all back, is it?

Somehow the installer doesn't work on my machine (Windows 8.1). The error "your program didn't install correctly" pops up after the installation. The game unpacks into my Steam folder but no shortcuts were created anywhere. So to play the game I have to dig into the steam folder and click on rpg_rt.exe manually. I thought this might happen to others as well so right now I am just zipping up the game instead of using the installer. Also unlike Ace, the RM2K3 installer doesn't do encryption of any sort (at least not that I know of) so it's really the same thing as an archived file.

It's not supposed to unpack in the Steam folder... which folder did you select during installation?
