Hi, I was wondering if there's any "method" on how to export/import correctly in RPG Maker 2003.

I saw some of those tutorials on YouTube but none of them seems to work or atleast when I try it won't let me import a picture because I get the error 'you have to convert the image to 8 bit (256 colours). Now, I've tried with different programs like Photoshop, Gimp etc.. When I import an image done with Photoshop, it works, but the image seems pretty scrapped (for example: if I import an image with white texts in it and Photoshop automatically puts white bg, when I import it in RPG Maker 2003 he recognize the white background and the programs tends to remove the texts too).

So after that, I was thinking also if there's a specific colour that I can use while making my picture.

Can someone help me?

Thanks alot! :)

If I remember another answer correctly, the old makers need exactly 256 colors in their palette - they also refuse to import if the palette contains less than 256 colors.

So you need to make sure the palette of the picture is saved correctly.

Problem solved!

I solved with another method, but thanks aswell Andar:)

METHOD:

I created a picture in Photoshop (for example: I took a map that I randomly created in RPG Maker 2003 and imported it in Photoshop, then added lights and saved in 8 bit WITHOUT them).

Then I saved as 8 bit the lights too (created in Photoshop and exported with Paint.NET) with black background and imported it in RPG Maker 2003 as picture.

Then I imported the first image (the map) as Panorama and set to the map in game.

I also created an event on the map, showing the lights image and setting it to 50% opacity and saying "no trasparency" at the bottom left corner.

That's all it, sorry if I made some mistakes in writing but I'm not english!:)
