Well, being that I got all of my current project's battle-related stuff all sorted out and dandy, I started working on progression-eventing/maps.
However, I am clueless on maps. I am no artist, and the only thing I could possibly do is "wing it" and hope it make something, probably not too well though. Right now I have no tilesets beyond RTP involved, but i'm not sure on what are my resource options or how to set some of them up. I also have no knowledge of special mapping tricks like parallax overlays and the sort, but i'm not worried about that, but things like those is how you make really good maps. Sadly my mental standards are somewhat high seeing some people's good maps, so that also brings me down. Sometimes I think about "it would be cool if I had a group/partner to make some of the stuff with (like maps)" but the question is who? So that's out of the question I guess.
So now that that's out of the way, how do I get started on good map-making? (Of course practice makes better) Where can I learn some tricks and techniques? What are some good custom tilesets to get started with? HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH TREES? lol
