Hello, I have found this script:
http://theolized.blogspot.com/2013/10/theo-animated-message-portrait.html

I have searched for an hour to see if I can find answers on here or anywhere else but I can not.

So, I am 100% new to this program. I have successfully put this script in the Script Editor but I do not know how to activate it or where to put the image for the animation.

I read it only works for 3 grid images? I don't know where I can find the proper grid its talking about.

So please...How can I activate the script on my text boxes? Do I need to do something in the Edit Event section? And How big can my image be and how do I do a 3 grid image?

Thank you and I'm sorry if this is a completely cretinous question..

We can't really help you without more information on where exactly you're having problems, so here are two general advices:

If you're new to scripting, I suggest you follow the link "How to use a script" in my signature, it will explain the basics and list the most common mistakes people have done with scripts as well as direct you to bughunting with script-cases.

As for the grid - that is what multi-cell pictures consist of. For example single sprites (like $BigMonsters) have a 3x4 grid, while spritesheets (like the actor spritesheets) have an 12x8 grid.

Additionally, if you're completely new to the engine, I suggest follow the link to the starting point in my signature and work through the tutorials linked there to get the basics as fast as possible.

Well the instructions in the script provide basically all the information. But I see you are not sure about the image.

I read it only works for 3 grid images? I don't know where I can find the proper grid its talking about.

A 3 grid image is in reference to an image file that has the three 'frames' that will be used to play the animation. So basically it's three images of the actor in the same file. frame 1 mouth closed, frame 2 mouth slightly open, frame 3 mouth fully open. Probably something like that. Mind you I have not used this script.
It script also shows how to use it.
set_portrait(filename, pos, flip, active)

So before the text box you would use a script call. Open the event, double click for a new command, tab 3, script call.

The size of your image will need to be smaller than your resolution at least. Once you get it working, then you'll see if it needs to be smaller of bigger.

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
