Hello.

I'm new to RPG Maker.  This is my first post to the forum.

I've purchased and downloaded RPG Maker MV this month (March 2016), which was distributed as 5 files.  Namely, these files were included with the purchase:

* BaseResource.zip
* ExtraAssets.exe
* KadokawaPlugins.zip
* RPGmakerWebPlugins.zip
* RPGMV_W_DRM.zip

I've been unable to find installation instructions for these files.  After reading a few other posts, I've been able to come up with the installation procedure outlined below.

I'm looking for answers to the following questions:

* Is the procedure I've outlined below correct?
* Where do the files in the ExtraAssets "pictures" folder go?

Below is the installation procedure that I've followed so far. Thanks in advance for your feedback.

-------------------------------------
Installing RPG Maker MV on Windows 10
-------------------------------------

1) Expand the file RPGMV_W_DRM.zip, then run the following from the extracted files:

RPGMV_W_DRM\RPGMV_W\Setup.exe

If you follow the default options on a default Windows 10 system, this will install RPG Maker MV into the following folder:

C:\Program Files (x86)\KADOKAWA\RPGMV

2) Expand the file BaseResource.zip, then copy the expanded files as follows:

audio\*.* ==> C:\Program Files (x86)\KADOKAWA\RPGMV\NewData\audio
img\*.* ==> C:\Program Files (x86)\KADOKAWA\RPGMV\NewData\img

The audio folder merged with the existing folder without overwriting any existing files.  The img folder did result in overwriting existing files.  Before overwriting files, I verified that the files were binary equivalent.

3) Expand the file KadokawaPlugins.zip, then copy the expanded files to the following folder:

C:\Program Files (x86)\KADOKAWA\RPGMV\NewData\js\plugins

No files were overwritten when the files were copied.

4) Expand the file RPGmakerWebPlugins.zip, which produces the following folders:

* Archeia
* Galenmereth
* Neonblack
* Shaz
* Yami
* Yanfly
* Zalerinian
* Zeriab

These folders each contain a bunch of "js" files.  Copy the content of these folders (not the folders themselves) into the following folder:

C:\Program Files (x86)\KADOKAWA\RPGMV\NewData\js\plugins

No files were overwritten when the files were copied.

5) Execute the file ExtraAssets.exe (or expand the contents), which will produce the following folders:

* 2000bgm
* pictures

Copy the contents of these folders (not the folders themselves) as follows:

2000bgm\*.* ==> C:\Program Files (x86)\KADOKAWA\RPGMV\NewData\audio\bgm
pictures\*.* ==> ??? where do these go ???

No files were overwritten when copying the files in 2000bgm.

Not exactly - if they were to go into new data, there would be no need to provide them separatly.

Everything in NewData gets copied into your project folder when you start a new project. But that also means it gets included into your game size, no matter if you used that part or not.

As with every resource, you should check if you want to use it - then it should go into the correct subfolder of the project where you want to use it but not into other projects.

It should only go into newdata if you're sure that you want to use that resource in every project you'll ever start in the future.

Thanks Andar.  This makes sense to me, but I am still wondering whether the locations I've identified are correct.  Would I copy those files into the project-specific folders of the same structure I've identified above?  When I look at a project folder, it seems to have an entirely different structure.  As a result, it is even less clear to me where these files would go (if I needed them).

Are there any instructions that would explain where these files would go within a project, or can you identify the folders?

I don't have the folders ready to check at the moment, but the structure is named and should be obvious - if the resources are stored in the same structure then copy them into the similiar folders, if not the names of the folders tell you what goes there, and you can cross-check the existing resources in them to be sure.

The only exception to that are the generator parts as those need to be renamed depending on what you already added to your character generator - there are tutorials on this forum how to do that.

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such? To whom ever person or persons who re-did the DS/DS+ asset packs for MV (as in, they are all 48x48, and not just x2 the pixel scale) .... THANK-YOU!!!!!!!!! XwwwwX
