How to make a Collectible Counter?

I use MV, and right now I am having trouble trying to find out how to make a Counter that shows up whenever a collectible is obtained.


Example, each time I collect a special coin a message box, or even an indicator in the top right would say "1/20 collectibles obtained" and each one you get would update that number so "2/20, 7/20" and so on.


Can anyone help me on how to do this?  Also it would be helpful if there was a way to set this up for a few different collectibles. So having a separate counter for each different collectible.


I am a bit of a beginner but I have been experimenting with the engine a bit so I have a basic understanding on how certain things work, but I would be grateful if someone could give me some guidance or even guide me to a helpful tutorial. I have tried searching for this topic but haven't found any results. Many thanks to anyone who helps!

I will do this for you, give me a bit of time to flesh out how I want it implemented and do some testing and you can expect the next time I update Window Pop( soon ) I will have this included.

Gab window does not auto pop with items and gold gained, you have to manually use plugin commands to make it pop up. I'm pretty sure the OP is looking for it to auto pop up whenever an item is collected and they want it to show a max amount beside the amount gained.

I was just about to post the same thing. :)


I've been trying to get it to work with Gab Window, I've got it somewhat with heavy eventing but it's not very easy. :dizzy:


Also that's only if the items are received during an event. :popcorn:

I was trying a similar thing, but with an extra variable and icon attached to the MapGoldWindow..
But my JS skills are nonexistent, so I'm searching for alternatives..

Well, I'll have my plugin updated tonight or tomorrow, I'm going to use in game variables to count the amount of items being gained. All that needs to be done is a Plugin command to set the ingame variable and the max amount to show beside it.  This way the user can quickly reset the variable to restart the collection process, and have control over the entire process with variables and conditions.

I updated my plugin, I never did extensive testing but with the bit of testing I did do everything seems in working order. Please report any bugs to me either on here or at the original hosting site for my plugin.  
 


From my help file, this explains how to setup the varibales and items.

PLUGIN COMMANDS FOR COLLECTION MODE
------------------------------------
WPOPCMODE TRUE/FALSE
This command turns collection mode on / true and off / false


WPOPCSET ITEM VARIABLE MAXVALUE
This is where you setup all your items and match them with a variable & max value.



ITEM = Item ID, the number in the database.. eg: 1 = Potion in database


VARIABLE = The in game variable you want to set the item to.


Max Value = The max value for the item..  1/10  <-- 10 is the max value


WPOPCRESET ITEM
This will remove the item from the collection array and the next time you
collect an item it will no longer display in collection mode.


ITEM = The item ID in the database


==============================================================================
WPOPCMODE TRUE   -- Turn on collection mode


WPOPCSET 1 1 25   --- Set Item 1, to Variable 1 in game & the max amount to
                      collect is 25.



WPOPCSET 5 2 15   --- Set item 5, to Variable 2, & the max amount is 15


Now whenever I gain these items above, it will display the amount I have already
collected and  the amount I still need to collect.


I collected all of the items above and now I want to remove them and reset the
variable so I will do something like this.


WPOPCRESET 1
WPOPCRESET 5


The above WPOPCRESET commands will remove the items from the array and reset
the in game variable back to 0. In other words the items will now act as they
should before collection mode was turned on.

Seriously loving this plugin. :cutesmile: I hate always having to make messages and such for every item gained.



While playing around with the item text color I thought of a few more things that might be a nice touch for this plugin.
...could you maybe add a way to change the sound played via notetag for certain items and such? (eg. <WPOP_Sound: 1>)
...perhaps an option of having only the item name the chosen text color without the "(s)"?

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
