You make a key item by setting the Item Type to "Key Item" in the database.

To make something require a key item, create an event on the spot where the item needs to be used and select the Select Key Item... event command. The box that comes up is for you to select which in-game variable the chosen item's ID will be stored in. You then need to create a conditional branch which checks whether that variable's value matches the ID of your key item, and in that branch you put your code for what will happen when the key item is used.

Okay, you make a Key Item by creating an Item in the "Items" tab of the database. The "Item Type" menu gives you the options "Normal" or "Key Item". I'm going to let you figure out which means what. ;)

As for how to make an object need a key item - that's basically a question of Events and Conditions - a simple "Item Exists" condition.

Edit: Ack, ninja'd! ;)

They don't call me Speedy Scripter for nothing. The fact that I gave myself this moniker is completely irrelevant!

That was just a joke directed at Warpmind, it wasn't related to your question. ^_^

Don't be too concerned about it. I just happen to have a few compromising negatives. ;)

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving!
