Hello all, long time reader, first time poster. I'm looking for a way to "view" the world map. Currently I'm only using the Overworld Map for cutscenes, but i would like to give my players the option to either hit a button and the world map comes up, or go in to the menu and view the world map. Currently this map is not intended for fast travel, just a "you are here ==> X (004,023)" and your quest is way "over here ==> X (036, 216)". This map would feature a very basic event based sprint system. I would like to use a "Real Map" instead of the game map. my playable maps are linked and all fast travel is through fixed points and an "other worldly realm". The map below is the style of map I would like to use (Left) instead of the game screen (Right). The visual esthetic is my primary goal. the center map shows my current grid system. Each 2x2 section is a map... for the most part.

Any and all tips or ideas on how to accomplish this would be very welcome and appreciated.
Thank you in advance to all whom contribute to solving this quandary of mine.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
