Hi there!

I just recently picked up RPG Maker VX Ace on Steam, and joined this forum only today.

I've been having some frustrating difficulties with something that should be quite simple I'm sure.

So I have e.g. An Ogre

I go onto it's page in the database in order to add events (?) (not sure on terminology yet) in order to try to make a message appear after you receive a game over.

Since I couldn't get that to work, I tried to do it if you win, as that seemed less complex, but I couldn't get that to work either.

So I want the order to go:

Ogre defeated

XP, Levels, Items etc.

Everything fades to black

Message appears during blackness

And then goes either to Game Over (if lost) or back to the map (if won)

I'm aware of the box you can tick that prevents game over even if you lose, but that didn't seem to help when ticked. If somebody could give me something quite specific as to how it should look like (don't be afraid to be VERY basic with me, I'm kinda awful at this) and make sure I'm doing the alterations in the right place. (Don't even know if the database is where I should be trying to do this...)

Thank you!

I don't know if it's possible with random battles, but using touch encounters do it like this on the monster event page:

Made a demo for you to demonstrate how to achieve all but the last part even for a random encounter.

Demo: Click here to download

The demo doesn't have any events on the map, the secret is all in the Troops & Common Events. ;)

This only works with on map encounters but it should work for those if you do as Milennin has shown above.

I don't know if it's possible with random battles, but using touch encounters do it like this on the monster event page:

It is possible with random battles to call a common event after the battle is finished (see my demo above for details); I'm still trying to figure out how to tell if the Player won or lost. ;)

If you still would like more help on the subject let me know. :)

looking forward to peeking at the demos later. =]

@Ct - to determine who lost -

Would it work to set

control variables: [monster's hp] = 1. [water spirit's HP]

in troop battle events

and if it is zero then the monster lost?

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
How many parameters is 'too many'??
