RMMV How to make an event occur when a skill is selected and not when a skill ends?

Im currently working on a personal project and im planing so that one of my characters has a musical rythim based gimmic, but with how the effect system works any event that i want to occur happens after the skill is completed, when i want it to happen the moment a skill is selected, so that it whould line up with some specific music.

The only way I know of is using Yanfly's action sequences.

I don't know how SRD's timed attack works into the situation, but you can call a common event at any point during an action sequence, so you can call it in whatever part of the action you want. Assuming you can call the timed attack plugin from a plugin command, you could then call it from the common event.

If you can't do that, you can ditch the timed attack plugin entirely and event whatever it is you're going for directly in the common event instead.

Sadly I can only call the plugin with notes, not plugin commands, and it overides everything else to be the first thing that occurs.
So ill have to make my own version of it by events.

just beat ff7 original for the first time since 2010. having played remake last year, I have a much better appreciation for the original oddly enough. I still like some of the character presentation in remake more, but the original's got a lot going for it.
Ever reach that moment in your life when your juggling a dozen or more projects that you know will never be made but don't have the heart to delete them? Ugh, I hate those moments...
