How to make fighting on map battles?

Hello, I'm incredibly new to the whole 'game making' scene, and I'm wondering if this is possible to
pull off using RPG Maker MV.

Basically, is there a way to make fights happen on the maps, instead of opening the battle sequence? For example:

like in old Zelda titles for the NES/SNES, or GameboyColor: If you bump into the enemy, you, the Player, are damaged, but in turn, if you have an item equipped, can damage the enemy on the map back?

Or like in some horror rpg maker games where if you have say, a gun equipped, you can use that to attack enemies on the current map?

I hope what I'm saying makes sense, and I've looked over some threads already, to no avail. I'm really
looking just to see if this is possible to pull off in RPG MAKER MV in general, or if it's just not possible due to system restrictions.

You can do an amazing amount of stuff if you're willing to put in the time and do it yourself. That being said most people just start with a ABS system. I believe there is a plugin that does nearly exactly what your looking for. It's call LMBS I think... Don't remember off the top of my head.

LMBS is where is the same thing like having an encounter once the encounter the battle system is different but it is not fighting on the map it is different just correcting you i don't know if i right too Hahaha i don't know whats in my head

I guess I should add Galv Map Projectiles https://galvs-scripts.com/2016/09/13/mv-map-projectiles/ to the list since it's what I was using till I built my own personal ABS. The upside is it's a lot more lightweight than the other ABS stuff so if you want more customization room it's a solid choice.
