A tile with nothing on it or with the same graphic as the ground set to block player passage would do it. Would make it a bit unwieldy to work with though but it's better than making a gazillion blank events. An alternative is a region restrict plugin and you can just paint where you don't want the player to walk.

you need to give a better description of what you want to do - there are several ways to do this depending on details like if you want the player to pass later or not or if something other than stop movement should happen if the player tries to move there and so on.

I'd simply make an blank event with its priority set to same as characters. That should do the trick.

Or even more simple:

1 - Download Yanfly's Region Restrictions
2 - In plugin params set numer of region that will block player
3 - Draw that region on map

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
