How to make lantern effect? No scripts please.

I want to upload an image that creates a spotlight effect. How do I do this? How do I determine the size? Thanks.

Yeah his tutorial required a download and he wouldn't explain how to use your own image. =/

Does this video help, since it's has 20 tips along with the lantern. You should probably skip to about 1:57 in the video.

• Make the image bigger than your in-game resolution. If you have 640x480 use something like 1280x960 (basically double size). Just use a circular gradient on the middle of the screen.
  
• Common Event, Parallel, use a switch called Lantern or something.
  
• Make Two Variables. Player Screen X, Player Screen Y. Then set its values to Game Data: Player Screen X and Screen Y.
  
• Use Show Picture, Center Origin, Use Player Screen X and Player Screen Y Variable for its coordinates. By default I use sub method and 160 opacity.
  
• Add wait frames, like 3 or something.
  
• Turn on the Lantern Switch in game and see it work.
