how to make tileset transperant

i download a rpg maker vx ace tileset and change it's size to mv size and i export it to rpg maker mv ,but when i save the tile it says it cannot have transparency when saving,but i continue saving and its true ,there is white backgroud when i placed a tileset.how to fix this?

You need to use an image program that supports transparency when saving into a filetype that has a transparency channel.. MS Paint cannot be used.


GIMP, Photoshop, paint.net and a lot of others can do this and you need to save as PNG.

As Andar stated you can use GIMP, Photoshop, or Paint.net. I currently have Paint.net and GIMP but I use Paint.net to manage stuff like this so I suggest getting Paint.net if you don't have it and just open it in paint.net.

Sorry ,i am just rushing because holiday is finishing ,but i kinda want to finish my game before school start .


Is there any preinstalled software on microsoft window that can be used(like ms paint,but supports transparency and alpha channel) or a RPG maker MV script,I don't really like to download too much software

i searced the internet and it say my tileset is probably for parallel mapping


how to change it for normal mapping?

It cannot be done with a script, and Windows contains no program that can handle transparency correctly, you need to download another image program.

Basically you would need to open the tilesheet in an image program and reformat it.


Unfortunately that is not something easy for a beginner who never worked with tilesheets, autotiles or image programs, and if you don't have one installed then I assume you're one such beginner.


I suggest you make a post in resource requests, linking to the original page of the tileset you want to use, asking for someone else to reformat them for you.


Might take one or two weeks however unless someone already did this...

I am not a beginner anymore,i already know how to make tileset transparent,I just wish to have a easier method that don't need to download software and I actually mastered most of rpgmaker


will you just teach me how to do the parellel tileset to normal tileset formatting

That is not easy to describe, only easy to do if you understand it.


Basically you need to open the parallax tile picture in an image program, make a second (empty) image for the regular tilesheet. The regular tilesheet needs to have a grid, in the case of MV that would be 16x16 grid fields of 48x48 pixels each.


Then you copy the parts from the parallax tileset into the grid of the other picture, until either the grid is full or you copied everything.


Just keep in mind that each grid position becomes one tile - if a structure on the parallax tilesheet is larger than 48x48 pixels you'll need more tiles in the grid, and if it is smaller you need to decide where in the grid to place the part.

i use paint.net ,and i tried to create the grid using the grid maker plugin,after i specify the 48*48 size of the grid and click OK,there is no grid ,just the new image i created turn black......


can you show me a video?
