hey

I am working on my game and I need a world map.

I've searched around on google but found only maps that have been made in RPG Maker vx ace which I am not so happy when I want something in the style of the new Pokemon game hope in preferring if possible such that there is a map in your bag where you get to see the entire mapped and if it can be done also with a face to the nature of the route you are

hope it can be done

thanks in advance

With your question, you're assuming that everyone knows what the "style of pokemon" is - but not everyone has played those games - I for example didn't, and I have no idea what kind of map you're looking for.

Please provide either link/examples or a better description on how you want the map to look like, then you'll get more answers faster.

Okay

This kind of map I want to have made in my game is a map where you go into your bag and finds a world map when using the map you will see an image of the games incredible world where in the area you are showing the your character's face so you can see where you are on the map

That is easy to do - just make a regular tileset with everything but a yellow path set to impassable and then use that path on the map to make the connections between the transfer points.

If you want the player to automatically move along those paths, place an autorun event that moves the player at any start/end-point of the paths.

That's impossible. The start and stop are wherever you decide they are.

I meant that at the start and end of the paths you place on the map, you make autorun events that move the player along the path to the next possible town/dungeon/other map. you'll use the normal set move route command, just target it on the player.

If you're new to RM, I suggest you follow the link in my signature and work through those tutorials

What I think he is asking for is an item called world map that when used shows an image that references where the player is in the world without actually teleporting the player to that map.

I imagine a Show Picture event might work in that case, but then you'd need to do some Paint.Net/Photoshop/GIMP/etc magic before hand to get your map all created first.

And you will need no. of picture equal to no. of destination on your world map.

That takes care of the map, but how would you get it reference where the player is in relation to that map?

That's a question I'd ask as well frankly XD

One possibility I could think of is having a separate event that is shown, using variables to put it's position on the map?  -  I'm a bit out of experience with RMaker sadly ><

There is an extremely rough way of doing it that comes to mind. You set a variable to each location and display a different picture depending on the location. If the number of possible locations is relatively low (less than, say, 40) I would do it. It would just look like a giant conditional or set of conditional branches.

When actor enters location 1,variable for location 1 becomes = 1 and the most recent variable changed this way = 0. and then when the common event is accessed, depending on what variable = 1 at the time, a different location can be displayed. It won't be exactly like the PokeMap, which seems much tougher to event.

But when you are on a path between 2 locations the map shows that as well(i.e. halfway between town A and town B, the world map shows you as that far along the route).

Those would just be additional variables to add. It's not a pretty solution, but it works, just time consuming, maybe would take an hour or so.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
