How to set an in battle event to trigger...

Okay, so my main issue here is I want my character to trigger an in game battle event when they cast a fire spell.

I figured out how to do it with a combination of states and common events but the catch is, if they cast the spell that triggers the switch in any battle before hand, the battle which is supposed to trigger the event never occurs or the battle hangs because the switch is already on.

This is a spell that is readily available to my character and can be cast in any battle prior to this just so you know.

Just turn the switch off once the event ends?

Parallel process and autorun CE doesn't run inside battles (as it seems, battle scene doesn't have an instance of Game_Interpreter by default)...


The only default way to make a CE run in battle is running it via the option on skills/items... if you really need to run a parallel or autorun CE inside battle, get Tsukihime's Scene Interpreter something... though on your case, I guess running it via the skill/items options is already enough since it's just meant to run after the skill is used anyway

Have you tried making a duplicate skill just for that fight, then setting it where once the fight/event is over it reverts back to the previous normal skill?

Use another switch before the battle starts to determine whether the fire spell does anything special.
