Hi all, I'm a complete newb at all things programming so I'm hoping somebody can give me a super-dumbed down description of how to use a plugin? The plugin in question is an arbitrary one to learn how to do this: I selected the absorption barrier plugin from Yanfly. I've read the onboard description and instructions but I think I must be missing something.

Basically, I can't get a trial of a battle to acknowledge the plugin in any way - this is almost certainly because I'm missing something super obvious, so if I talk you through what I've done, maybe that will help narrow down my problem.

1) Downloaded the plugin

2) C&P'd the plugin into the js folder

3) Selected the plugin within an otherwise untouched RPG Maker MV (it is enabled)

4) Directly copied the note tags as shown in the Yanfly video into the note box for the spell Heal (without changing anything else)

When I started a Battle test, using the spell heal seemed to have no barrier effect whatsoever on the intended target: the enemies were gracious enough to attack the supposedly barriered character and they still took damage (and roughly the same damage as characters that did not have a barrier). I assume that the problem is that the note tags in the note box do not actually cause the effect and I actually need to tell it what I want it to do in another menu of some description. However, I'm completely new to all of this and my googlings haven't found a guide that is sufficiently dumbed down for a complete beginner, so if somebody could talk me through this, that would be really really helpful.

Many thanks.

RMMV
Yeah, adding on to what bladevoid said. The beginning of Yanfly's videos usually show which plugins are required for others to work.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
