How would I go about locking the party leader?

I'm making a game as a hobby and have no intention of using it commercially, so with that being said I do not at all want to pay a stupidly hefty £30 for Yanfly's plugins.
With that out of the way, how would I go about locking the party leader? Not locking out formation entirely, but only locking the party leader so he cannot be replaced by someone else as party lead.

just make a request in plugin requests, and someone will provide links (I don't have them atm)

RPG Maker always seems to have something good, and then almost immediately have something holding it back. Good lord is this frustrating having to dig through dead websites and threads to find a plugin that might work for a feature that ultimately should've been there to begin with.

Andar didn't ask you to dig through dead websites and threads to find what you're looking for though; all you need to do is post in plugin requests asking for the same thing. If you're not even willing to do that, I don't know what to tell you.

not for every type of game.

the more options you pile on a base engine, the more difficult it becomes to turn it into different specialisations. That is why the default engine contains only basic features and allows the developer to use plugins to add other features.

...it is. Your copy of MV came with a plugin in dlc\KadokawaPlugins called FixedBattleMembers that does exactly what you asked.
It would've taken you fewer keystrokes to type into Google "RPG Maker MV lock party member" and the first result is a thread with that answer...

Funnily enough, that's exactly what I did but only got results pertaining to VX Ace, your cocky nonchalance is appreciated nonetheless. I will use this.
