How would I go about using an animated title screen?

Friend of mine made an animated title for me to use in AfterEffects. Few questions...

1.) Do I need a script to have an animated title? If so, which script would work?

2.) What file format does it need to be in?

I searched around but found a lot of surprisingly irrelevant information, so any input on this would be great. Thanks.

1) Well yes

2) Depends on which script you would use

AFAIK, no script uses pre-animated files. I could be wrong though. There are quite a few out there, maybe some aren't named animated titles or something.

Anyway, why can't you use MOG's?

It's in Portuguese and I have no idea what to do with it as such.

What's the format for the title?

I think most of the scripts are so you can do your own animations using static images - maybe some glowing effects, particles, etc.  I doubt any would just take an existing animation and display it.

Ace supports .ogv movie files, so if it's already in that format, it might be able to be used without any changes.  It will still require script mods to use though, as playing movies is done via event commands, and that's only valid after you start a new game, not on the title screen.  If it's a different format, I don't know that you'd have much luck finding a script to play it.

There's no currently existing script to play a .ogv movie file as a title in loop?

No, because what most scripts like that do is to enable the use of a map as background, and then allow the developer to place whatever is needed on the map with regular event commands.

That ways it's a lot more efficient for both scripter (who doesn't have to include any specific effects or commands) and developer (who can make use of a more flexible structure and combine event commands, cutscenes, pictures or whatever to make that titlescreen.

Just search the master script list for those scripts, you can find half a dozen different variants by searching for "splash screen", "title screen" or so.

None, for one, video plays always on the top layer of the game's window so you cannot show anything above it... Also AFAIK, as long as a video is playing, any other input and processing is paused.

You can show it before the title screen using some of the scripts, but not during the title screen's main part.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
