How would I use one event to trigger another?

Another topic, hopefully this is different and unrelated to any other topic I've done recently.

But, I have two NPCs walking randomly. They also have three different things they can say if the player approaches them. What I wanted to do was to have both of them stop and approach the player when the player is about to leave the room and speak to him. How would I do this?

Well thing is you don't have to do anything with those events directly you can use a controller event to "remote" control them using the set move route and having that same controller event do the talking for both of them. In yourcase the controler evern would be one touch activated near the door when a certain witch is on, after the controller event is done with the entire cut scene you just have to turn the switch off.

also read this Events are NOT NPCs

I'm still kind of confused by what this means. I've read that, and I tap "move toward player" and their event, but they don't really move unless I constantly press the arrow key, and they don't say anything. : <

no not the default movement options

have your Event that you are stepping over remote control the other events using the Set Move route on the second page of commands.

you can use it to move multiple Events where you want them to go all at the same time by un-checking "Wait for completion" and starting another in the same event. And having that one wait for completion will wait for both of them. then start the text right after still in the same event.

The general gist of "controlling one event with another" is that the Set Move Route command, as illustrated in the screenshot in the post above mine, can be used to move any event. In the top left hand corner of the Set Move Route box, you can choose which event to move. So if you have two NPCs, name those events - let's say Bob and Mary.

Put an event in front of the door with priority below the characters and an activation on Event touch. Put your Set Move Route commands in this event. You can even make both Bob and Mary move at the same time. If you have two Set Move Route commands one after the other in an event, make sure the "Wait For Completion" box is only checked on the last event.

When the player steps on this event, it will carry out move routes for your two NPCs. Make sure you put a self switch or something at the end of this event so it won't trigger a second time.

(For the record, new users getting over the hurdle of building cut scenes is probably the biggest road block for early development.)

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such?
