I'm looking for a script that will add a health bar (like above) on the field screen.

  • Each digit represents 1 HP
  • There are 10 health digits (white) and 10 shield digits (green)
  • The shield is determined by MP and regenerates by 1 every second when not in combat
  • The bar could grow as the player levels (optional)
  • The bar could fade away when not in combat (optional)

Are your images just a mockup and you want a script written that will produce them in-game?

Hey.  If the Health + Shield is essentially acting as combined health (e.g. 10 Health + 7 Shield Remaining acts kind of like 17 HP), then I think you can use the Luna Engine (purchasable here at RMWeb) to do exactly what you want, the same way that the "Complete Script List" sample handles the TP bar.

If you want the Health and Shield to work differently in some way (for example, some enemies will only hurt your shield and never your health, or there is no "overflow" into your health if you take damage that is greater than your shield), then you will need some Scripting Help, which you should request in the RGSS3 Script Requests subforum.

Alternatively, you could do the whole thing using Show Picture commands (using separate pictures for the bar and the little health/shield blips in the bar), without ever having to use scripting nor purchase the Luna Engine... but that would be a very clumsy and time-consuming way to do it.

Thanks, man. I forgot to mention that I wanted the shield to regenerate when not in combat. Health, on the other hand, needs to be replenished by resting, using a skill, or using an item.

Though I'm not really sure WHAT you're requesting. You've got a picture and some words, but there's no actual "how do I ..." or "is there a script that does ..." in there anywhere.


Do you HAVE a script that's showing this already that you need adjusted? Are your images just a mockup and you want a script written that will produce them in-game?


If you're using a script and it has to be compatible, please post a link to the script.

Oh.  So at any given time you might have only partial health, but full shield, OR full health but no shield, etc.?

If you need these to both be contained in the same bar, you'll need someone to write a script for you.  If you want them as two separate bars, you could do most or all of this pretty easily using Luna Engine.
