Hey folks!

That's my first post and am already asking for something, i know i know what a way to start.

But, i hope i can get things right and provide enough information so we can start out nice, I'll do my part and any help will be greatly appreciated! :)

What I am looking for:

My game is some sort of an survival game, where the player is struggling to survive in a hostile and grim world.

Different region effects will cause constant damage to the Character. So, what the game needs is a Hud where the player can see how high or low his HP is and when things are getting a little worrisome. Both the HP and MP Bar (not used as magic more like status effect) will need to be present.

So far i couldn't find a script that either supports more than just one Lifebar or displays both a vertical and horizontal one.

I found the Bar-o-Meter Script from SojaBird, which at least seemed kinda close (and simple enough) to what I am looking for but unfortunately its for VX only.  >_>

Here is a picture to make it a little more clear what I am aiming for:

HUD_Bars.png

So far i made one picture for the complete and empty bar (just a few outlines) and 2 pictures for the HP and MP Bar.

It would be great if a script could allow for some "easy way" to implement those graphics, where the visibility of the bars gets reduced by pixel for every single HP/MP that was lost.

I dearly hope for some help or hints in a certain direction and hope i made it as clear as possible. :)

Also, I don't know if it will matter but right now the game mostly consists of Victor Scripts.

:rock-left:   Bonus Question :rock-right:

How much of a hassle would it be to implement another Image to the Hud, which acts like a Warning Symbol.

Imagine a grey exclamation point "!" which turns red when certain switches are turned on/ script calls are executed?

I guess this could be done via eventing and simply showing the picture on screen but a hud integration seemed like the elegant way. :guffaw:

Is this for single actor?

Since you're using a customized bar, do you mind having to create the "full hp" "empty hp" picture file (same goes for mp)? It would make it easier on my part if I were to take this. : p

and are you sure that you would like to go with 1 hp / pixel instead of using percentage? (It might get confusing when you want to change the hp/mp max of your character if you're using 1 hp/pixel).

I have an HUD at the scripts section that supports 4 bars (HP,MP,TP,EXP)... though all of them are horizontal

Hi thanks for the fast reply and taking your time for this :)

Yeah its just the main character and no party involved!

The player is not supposed to level up a lot so the HP and MP Bar will never be more than 300. Actually the player is starting out with 200 HP and 200 MP, then items in the game will enhance those to a maximum of 300. As a result i have made the empty bar for both HP and MP to look like its just 200 with an open end, then the full HP/MP image with 300. I hope that description makes some sense :) If not i can send you another picture with what i mean.

I have made certain events that will trigger when the HP or MP are under a certain level .e.g. when HP are lower than 50 the screentone will change to red and player is breathing louder, etc. so that "dangerzone" should be recognisable (Color of the Picture for HP Bar fades from red to green).

I guess this would be more difficult to accomplish with a fixed percentage. One thing that could change thou is that the bar is not 1HP/1Pixel but 2HP/1Pixel resulting in double the HP/MP but the hud staying the same.

Thank you too, i actually had your script installed at one time but had a problem with the HP and MP bar flickering all the time and not showing up properly. I have to confess that i didn't spend that much time to solve that problem but instead went for the vertical layout of my hud. If things don't turn out like i hope, i sure will go back for your script, it really looks pretty good (and is already bookmarked :) )

It might flicker if you are having drastic FPS drops I think... anyway, seems like Mike is on to make you a customized one for you

Since it's only gonna work for you due to custom bar & hp regression (unless other folks using the same size and amount of hp / mp), hit me a pm, I need to know where their coordinate should be.

Btw, the graphic only counts 1 pixel at minimum, so if you would like to go for 2 hp / 1 pixel, it won't change the appearance of the hp bar if the character only loses 1 hp.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
