I've been looking for this kind of a plugin online, and I'm really surprised that I couldn't find a single one for a hunger/thirst system. I'm not looking for anything complex, just a simple plugin that makes each character have hunger and thirst values that deplete over time (or on the basis of steps) and can be relieved via items.

If something like this exists, I've been unable to find it.

Normally people use TP or even MP for this kind of thing. There should be enough plugins for that kind... you only have to define when/how /who/why(?) someone loses TP/MP.

Edit: It's even possible with simple variables I forgot to mention...

You could also event such a system (common event) with setting up variable for hunger, which will decrease over time, also you should be able to create items that will add to that variable, I guess. I bet you could even get it to decrease with steps, tho that might need a bit of scripting?!
If you want to display the variable on screen there are a few plugins that would allow that, for example SRDs HUD Maker.

But I'm not aware of a plugin that does all of this for you.

The problem with the eventing option is that the game I'm thinking of has 20 characters, and all of them would need multiple variables to make the hunger system possible. And the MP and TP is used in battle, so I don't think that will do the trick either.

An Actor Variables plugin would make this easier to implement. The actual mechanics that update the values up and down can be done through eventing pretty easily.

Where do you want the system to show the variables to the player? Like should they be visible on the main menu screen, the status screen, or as a separate menu command?

Any of the above really, though what I had in mind was small hunger and thirst bars at the top of the screen that could be adjusted. But having the information in the menu or status screen would also work

Showing it on the map was what I thought at first, but if you have it for like multiple actors, who's information should it show?

Come to think of it, a mockup might be helpful here.

Well, there would only be six party members at a time in my case, so there would be six hunger/thirst bars on the top of the screen. This script exists for XP, which is why I was wondering if it would exist for MV.

Here's an example of what I mean:

While it's not designed specifically around a Hunger/Thirst system, you could easily turn my new Talent Core plugin into one. Talents are basically Actor Variables but with a bunch of extra functionality tied to them that you won't really need here. You'll just set up the Talents and control the values through Plugin Commands.

1. Change the System Mode plugin parameter to View (or Hide if using a HUD)
2. Set your Talents up as Hunger, Thirst, Body Temperature or whatever other physical conditions you desire.
3. Change all of the Command and Text parameters to names that fit you system.
4. Use Yanfly's Auto-passive States to place permanent states on your character's to lower their Talents at your desired rates with a common event.
5. If you want a HUD, you could use SumRndmDde's HUD Maker and tie the gauges to your Talents.
6. Ask me if you need any help setting anything up.

I don't see any reason why this wouldn't work.

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
