If someone had pirated RPG Maker VX ace, and in the past, was banned from here because of that, but had since then purchased a legitimate copy of the program... would that person be allowed to be unbanned? Or at least their future accounts be un-blacklisted? Also, in such a case, how could that person provide proof that they bought the program on Steam?

lol - you KNOW what we think the moment you say "hypothetical question" :D

Yes, if someone has previously been banned for having a pirated maker, they can send their proof of purchase to one of the admins, and they will be unbanned.

How to prove it if bought on Steam? Doesn't Steam send you an email to confirm a purchase, that could be forwarded or copied/pasted? Or is there something you can see in your account that says you've purchased it, that you could make a screenshot of?

If they're banned, they probably have no way of contacting admins via the forum. In that case, they could use the Support link on the official store, and Nathanial would either take care of it himself, or have one of the other admins sort it out.

I think so... there are lots of ways to prove it... like the confirmation email, the steam key/account and proof that ur the one who owns that maybe... and so many else

Well... hypothetically, if they were gifted the program by a friend, yes, there is a confirmation email, but it's not the same kind of confirmation email one gets if they purchase it themselves. Would that still count?

it's still a confirmation email... and if it clearly says that it was a gift from steam, I don't see why it wouldn't be valid... IDK how steam gifts work, but the license will go to the one receiving the gift right?

For gifts ... you might need to wait for an admin on that one (or someone who actually uses steam and knows how the registering system works for gifts). Basically, they need to have proof that they've bought it, or that someone else has bought it and given it to them (and is not also still using the same license themselves).

Mmk. Actually, this wasn't about me, but a friend of mine. I'll let him know to contact support and hopefully he can get stuff straightened out. If not, I'll make a new thread later on. Mods can close this thread now, thanks :)

How can one get caught with a pirated program in the first place? Hypothetically, of course.

Well, being so curious about how we know if you're using a pirated maker or not immediately grabs our attention. Hypothetically, of course. So that would make us - hypothetically - pay more than the usual attention to the posts you make, to see if you give yourself away. And no, of course we're not going to tell you the signs we look for ;)

PushesTheButtons, yeah, I knew it wasn't you. I suspected you knew someone who'd been banned for it though and that it wasn't entirely hypothetical :) Nothing wrong with asking about it though.
