Hello, everybody. My name is Ebon, and I'm a new member of these forums.
I've been experimenting with RPG Maker XP and RPG Maker VX Ace for quite a while now. Although I've made several attempts to try and create my own game, I always ended up becoming bored of developing eventually. But now, after finally kicking the Warcrack and becoming incredibly bored as a result of my PC breaking down, I've decided to give it another try on my crappy college laptop.
I've got my story set up, I've got most of my characters written out, and I'm currently working on designing them all. But a game can't run on recolored battlers and frankensprites, can it? So, that's why I decided to came here.
I want to learn. I want to know more about scripting, I want to learn the best ways to create dungeon lay-outs, I want to learn the best ways to create areas, I want to learn the best ways to balance playable characters and monsters, I want to learn the best ways to create challenging bosses... And I feel that becoming a member here is one of the best ways to learn all that. Plus a little bit of friendly idle chatter never hurt anybody.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
