Hi, I have no instrument experience at all and don't know anyone with some, but I want to make custom music for the games I am working on.

I have played a game (An MMORPG From Korea), and in it you could make music without having to actually know how to play. You would just write out a music sheet using a bit of language and it would synthesize some very nice sounding music.

Does anyone know of a program that will allow me to make completely synthetic music?

If it helps it will mostly by dark/creepy/moody music, with peaceful and happy music sprinkled around.

Edited out a game name.

I am not a good musician, but I highly recommend that you should learn an instrument to start composing. Learning an instrument is a good way to start learning music. After that you can try using some program like Finale Notepad to start composing simple music.

I really don't think those synthetic pieces of music are really yours (correct me if I misunderstood).

Sorry for not helping that much.

Unlike with that MMO, music creation doesn't come easily.  The ONLY think I could recommend that is close to it would be the Mario Paint Composer, but not many folks around here are into retro-sounding music (at least not from what I've seen).  Your best bet would be to pick up FLStudio (I think they have a trial version) and learn the program, how it works, how virtual instruments work and go from there.

If you're really looking to create some decent music, that'd be your best bet since a ready-made program to do what that game does is not available (at least that I've ever seen in my long searches on the net).

FLstudio sounds like what I am looking for, as I don't have the time or money to buy an instrument/lessons.

Thank you.

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
