I cannot save projects using WIndows 10 - RPG Maker VX Ace

Ok, so I installed windows 10 and when I click to save, nothing happens. When I click to play test and hit save, nothing happens. In order for anything to happen, I need to click no and then the game will close, or playtest or whatever but then ofcourse, nothing will save. How do I fix this? Without a fix I will never because to continue any of my projects so some help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you use the steam version?

If you do, have you deleted the project from the cloud?

where do you try to save to? what is the folder path of your project?

[SIZE=12pt]The files have always saved into my documents. I never use the cloud because I don't trust it as I have lost save data before with other games so if I have the cloud option, I never use it. [/SIZE]

[SIZE=12pt]I have tried using both the Steam and the non-steam version I had from when before it was on steam. Neither works. I click "save" but it is just like nothing happens. When I click to test the game and it asks me to save, I click "save", nothing happens, the test doesn't even load. If I try the force save, I see the windows loading circle thing with my mouse for a split second but when I hit close, it'll ask me to save and it's the same thing. I need to click "no" for it to close and when I re-open it, it isn't saved. The only way I can get the test to load is if I click "no" and then the test will load what it always was, I can't even add stuff on the map it starts you on as it just puts me in the previous save. I have tried restarting my computer, when that didn't work, I removed both the steam version and the non-steam version, reinstalled the non-steam version and that didn't fix it so I did the steam version and still nothing. I even went to the extent to reinstalling steam but unfortunately, still nothing.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=12pt]Now I know when I installed windows 10, I did some stuff in the registry for some drivers but it shouldn't have been anything that would have affected anything to do with windows operating nor anything on this, or steam in general so I don't know. I will attempt to back everything up tomorrow and do the reinstall option for Windows 10 when I press Shift + Restart and I hope that it will fix it in case there is something off with the registry even though I was nowhere near anything that should have affected it (and nothing else seems affected). I'd do it tonight but it is getting late.[/SIZE]

Have you tried to run rpg maker as an administrator?

Sounds like an access restriction.


If running as an admin doesn't help, check which account the owner of the files is - if neccessary, claim ownership with an admin account.


Also check if your antivirus program has blacklisted RM - there is one who does that very often.

P.S - If a mod wants to fix the title so it says "projects" and not "projecting" that would be nice, thanks.

You can do that yourself by using the full editor options on edit.

Ok, the administrator thing worked. Now what bugs me is my account for this computer has my account as the administrator so now I am stuck trying to find out how it will continue to just open this way any time I go to use it instead of me needing to go to thr program files and clicking "Run as administrator" every time I want to open the program.

I use Windows 10 and I can save fine with VXA. The problem is some other programs won't run as admin and gave me problems. So in short, this is not an RPG Maker problem but Windows.

The easiest way is to do this:
