i cant get my RPGVXACE file to download properly

so i downloaded RPG VXAce RTP to play a game i bought and well for some reason when i extracted the files and ran the setup my game file always becomes a camera file what is it supposed to be originally? I've been trying to find out information for a bit and I'm not finding answers sorry to be a bother, please help me i feel really ******ed...

I have tried re downloading a few times and nothing seems to work.

Downloading the RTP should not cause any change to the default applications.

What is the game you are trying to play? You should be running the Game.exe file. If it is treating that as a "camera" file (not even sure what a "camera" file is), then you have something else messing up your system and it's nothing to do with RPG Maker.

so the game.exe file icon changed if you right click to "open with" it says it will open with imaging and devices control panel instead of the original open with originally is, when you right click yours what does it have it set as?

the game im trying to play is Mogeko's Castle which was recomended by a friend and ive heard other really good games are playable on it

sounds like you've installed some imaging program that has changed the icon and file association for exe files. That's just not right at all.

I don't get an "open with" option when I right click the exe. .exe files don't have a default program set up on my system, but it sounds like they do on yours.

What happens when you double click on the exe? It should just run.

I suggest you edit your default apps list and delete any file association listed for .exe files.

when i double click it opens my imaging and devices control panel and that is all the game itself starts and crashes with no notifications
oh i should have tried editing that in the first place ill give that a try

so i reset it and downloaded it again but its not an .exe file it actually just opens an icon in paint now.

What did you reset? The RTP download or the game file? If you're having issues with the game file I suggest you go to the developer and ask for help. This forum is more for making games, not playing them.

1) an exe file is NEVER to be clicked "open with" another program, it is a program on its own.
2) the rpgvxace file is for editing the project (and usually removed before distribution), it is not to be used for playing the game

I think you've messed up your file associations - can you give us a screenshot of the files you have in the downloaded folder? preferably with extensions visible, because with hidden extensions and a mixup in the file associations there is no way for us to identify which file is which (there is game.exe, game.ini and sometimes more variants)

Is this in e.g. .rar format and you are trying to open the exe file directly instead of extracting the whole thing? If so, won't work.
