I don't suppose there's a way to clear your game's cache is there?

The reason I'm asking is because I've recently renamed a few files and now it's throwing up errors saying cannot find file which I've already tripple checked around my events and such and made sure to select the renamed files.

I'm pretty sure it's my game's cache holding onto the image file name and therefore it's throwing up the error.

I already know what file it's trying to access so no need to tell me how to find out what file its trying to ask for.

I simply do not want to have to go around and rename my files back to what they were just because rpg maker wants to throw a Obsessive compulsive disorder style tantrum of things not being the same and screaming errors at me.

If there isn't, I'm going to be rather pissy because then this means I have to move my damned whole project manually to another rpg maker project just to get it to stop being an obsessive compulsive child...-_-;

How about a screenshot of the error you're receiving? I've renamed files before but I haven't gotten any errors if I managed the events properly.

It didn't start giving me this error until I closed rpg maker and renamed files.

Also it's asking for files that before, it didn't ask for. so in other words, it's asking for files that never existed now.

Also, I can rename the files in this folder till I'm blue in the face, it won't recognize it.

Some event graphic somewhere is using that graphic, and when you renamed them without the editor, it wasn't changed in your game. Something, somewhere, somehow wants that picture, but is completely oblivious to you changing it. Check your events, every single page, your actors, your item/weapons/armor notetags, your scripts, everything. It has to be in there somewhere.

Edit, place this where you have the file name being output, it'll let us know where it's coming from:

if !FileTest.exist?(path) caller[0, 5].each{|trace| puts "\t#{trace.inspect}" }endI'm assuming you're using it at 'def self.normal_bitmap(path)' (line 105)

Edit2: fixed a little syntax error from above.

put it on the next line:

If it finds that a file doesn't exist, it should print out a little trace.

After looking closer at your error screenshot, there already is a backtrace there. The error is in your Galv Menu Layout script.

Edit2: To be more specific, it wants to draw the face.

so what do I do? Is it cacheing something it's not supposed to? and if so, how to I make it so it's not trying to call for it anymore?

Now that I've looked at Galv's menu script, it appears to be trying to draw the face, because you still have the script. It uses the following bit of code to figure out what filename to load: face_name + "-" + (face_index + 1).to_s

So in this case, it's trying to draw for the face name of "Pinkie_Pie_Faceset_1", and it wants the sixth image. Therefore, one of you actors has their face set to Pinkie_Pie_Faceset_1, 6th image, and the script wants to get the proper image for this. If you are confused on this, show me all your actors and their face graphics.

Generally speaking, you shouldn't be renaming system image files unless you know what you're doing.

For the system files, get the missing ones from the base RTP package on your computer (or you can start a new project, save it and get the graphics from that if you don't know where the base files are).

For the images Galv's script is looking for, what Zal said. It looks like the characters in your party don't have their own pictures corresponding to the faceset. As it says on his website:

"Replaces the default RPGMaker VX Ace menu layout with the one shown in the screenshot. You will need to supply your own portrait images, they are NOT included with the script."

I figured out what the stupid issue was...........

apparently, by changing what default facesets in the game's actors section....

It caused these problems.

SOMEHOW it's HARDWIRED into the script seek out slot 0 of every faceset and if it doesn't find it, error city.

I have no idea how to change this and nor do i want to figure out. until farther notice, mark this thread as solved. thank you for your help. though a little confusing Zalerinian, your explanation about how it was asking for faceset slot 6 and all that DID give me the idea to switch back the actor facesets to the original files. thank god I didn't delete those...

As a sidenote I want to give a thank you to EVERYONE who took time to try and help with this issue. I appreciate it. :)

Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
