I was having trouble with this a few weeks ago, too. It either wouldn't capture sound or it would distort the sound, like it was recording it muffled through a can. I can't remember exactly what I did to fix it, I just remember messing with a ton of things before something counter-intuitive finally helped. It may have been changing the capture settings from "Game" to "All" in Settings > Capture on the game bar. I don't think I could get "Game" only to work. Luckily it's easy enough to mute other sound sources before recording.

This might have to do with the fact that RM games are browser-based, so "Game" only settings for whatever reason doesn't recognize it as a game? Dunno.

For that matter, also check the Audio panel and make sure no programs are muted in the game bar capture, especially your default browser.

You can turn off the updates... if you don't have the home edition.

I keep hearing of windows updates bricking computers with increasing frequency. It really is insane who have to disable updates to prevent your system from being ruined.

I haven't heard about that but I would'nt think it's not possible. The recent update nearly locked me out of my own PC (It wouldn't let me login windows at all and was asking for my WINDOWS LIVE ACCOUNT like what?). For most people, including myself, it's that previous updates aren't properly cleaned like they should. Thus each update eats up your main drive space.

Pardon my French but **** Windows 10. Bloody thing BSODed on me as I was working on something in RMMV, and it corrupted my files. I had been slacking on backups and my last one was seven months old. Could have filled a swear jar in under two minutes. And that's not including all the times updates broke something I had to fix.

I just added a second hard drive in my laptop and then promptly installed BSD on it with full WINE emulation to run Windows apps and 10 is just slowly rotting away on the primary M2 SSD.

I'm sorry, but that was not a rant. Your post was one sentence, and contained no accusations, suppositions, declarations, or glitiscrations. Yes, I made that last word up.

A rant must have at least eight sentences. Twelve or more is better, but eight is the bare minimum. I would classify your post as a mild complaint about something that everyone already agrees on anyway (we all hate windows).

If you want to learn how to truly rant, there are many examples on The Internet. I hope this helps.

windows 10 updates frequently screw up my audio drivers, somehow..i lose access to stereomix as an audio device so i lose the ability to record the speaker output, so a similar problem. sometimes i have to go as far as entirely reinstalling the drivers. i wonder why windows 10 hates audio output so much.

Win10 also hates WiFi. One big "update" broke my WiFi access and I had to waste two hours troubleshooting until I figured out the problem.

BSODS are still very much a pain in the arse...

I would almost recommend dual-booting Linux or BSD and installing WINE so Win programs can be executed. Might take the pain out of it, that's what I am did. Main driver is now FreeBSD for me.

Windows update hasn't broken any of my drivers or anything that works, however it does break the workflow I have.

For example, it constantly reset my mic volume to 50% from 100% whenever the update is done and it is annoying when in the meeting. Sometimes, I could just turn the volume back up, but sometimes it just doesn't work. The time was lost when I had to figure out to fix it when my teammate told me that my volume was too low.

Another case was when work from home wasn't a thing, if I had to unpack my laptop from the office and it happened to download the update, I had to wait for it to finish before I could go home.

That said, I somehow managed to dodge Windows update for about 7 months by now and it is really improving my quality of life. Let's see if I could manage it longer.

Heh, heh. I've been experimenting with a naughty word detector Common Event and using scripts to check certain strings. I never thought I would see such language in computer code. I would post a screen shot, but it probably wouldn't be appropriate, even with a Spoiler. But it certainly makes me laugh and it works great.
Yknow what? Im seriously considering recruiting a manager to oversee my games development.
Because I cannot focus or complete these tasks by myself. I need someone to give me orders, without having them be my boss.
