I'm a complete noob in RPG maker xp, and I want to learn how to put cutscenes in the game or if it's even possible even to do that. Thanks :)

Hey, welcome! I'm glad people are still using XP.

Depends what you mean by an "animated cutscene." Later Makers support showing video clips, so you could make an animation in another program and import it--XP does not have that feature. Someone, somewhere, sometime may have written a script that would allow you to do something similar, but if you're new to the engine I wouldn't go searching for it until you're a little more comfortable!

But you can definitely make in-engine cutscenes, using Events. Have you played around with Events much yet? They control pretty much everything that happens in the game--every NPC you talk to, every treasure chest you open, etc. Events are structured from Event Commands, and there are lots of Event Commands that work for making cutscenes--most of the commands in Tab 2 are well-suited to making cutscenes. Set Move Route, Scroll Map, Show Animation, etc.

I can give more specific advice if you tell me what you want to achieve with your cutscene, but my first suggestion is to noodle around with events and see how far you can get!

There's no built-in function for adding facesets to messages (XP is, unfortunately, the only one without that) but you can fudge it by using a Show Picture command before your Show Text command! Just be sure to add an Erase Picture command after the speaker has finished.

Again, there are scripts that do this job (I've used Dubalex's Advanced Message System before and it did this quite nicely), but I wouldn't worry too much about it until you're a little more familiar with the built-in functions.

(And if you remember something you want to add to your post, please use the Edit button instead of posting multiple times in a row! Multi-posting is against the forum rules.)

I've done this by making almost identical picture graphics and overlaying them on the 'normal' tiled screen one after the other. I also modifyed the character graphics to produce a simipar effect.

You can see this in the test videos for my ' History of Hauntly Hall' game.
