(the exact name of the script is: Yanfly's Engine Ace - Ace Message System )This script is suppose to enable a ton of things based on the usage of special tags typed into the Show message box, but nomatter what tag I try using, the tag wont work, instead the message box pops up in game, with just the tag typed out, so yea it doesn't seem to be working at all(considering most people seem to be using this script these days, I know people must've found some way to get it to work).

Note: It's version 1.05

RMMV
1) link us to the script, we can't search the internet whenever someone just names a script he's problems with.

2) give us a screenshot of the event where you use the message tags, so that we can se if you might have made a mistake with the tags.

3) check the conditions for the message script - most of Yanfly's scripts need one or more of the core scripts, and if you use more than one of yanfly's scripts then the order in which they're inserted into the script editor does matter.

Here it is: http://yanflychannel.wordpress.com/rmvxa/core-scripts/ace-message-system/

According to it, it doesn't require another script( I triple checked that, just to make sure I wasn't blind(there's add-ons listed that I'm not using, but it doesn't say they're required.

that tag is suppose to make a name box, but as you can see, it just posts the tag.

Edit: Nevermind lmfao, I was using the wrong slash evidently, you need to use the other one(who the hell uses that), Ill have to slap Yanfly for being weird some time.

No, you answered your own question.
That slash is used because it isn't used normally - the symbol starting a text code needs to be a symbol that is rarely or never used in regular text, because otherwise you'll end up with a problematic logic programming...

If you look into the other text codes, you'll see that you need to type \\ to get a single \ displayed. If you used / for the text codes, then you would have to use // wherever you want to display a single / - and that's a lot more often than with \...

why are you even using /? even the normal text tags of Ace uses \

and Yanfly even has a really nice guide on that script's page which clearly shows how to use it...

All text codes everywhere else on the internet use / .

Also yea, but does anyone actually realize what way a slash is pointing, no, because \ is never used in general anyway, so whenever a slash is used, you naturally perceive such as  / (or more accurately, the slash tied to a specific button on the keyboard, which is / ).

To Andar: Yea I guess, but his script pretty much does everything you could want to do(and then some), so I really don't see why anyone would be using another text script on top of this.

Though really, if you cared to read his instructions, it's clearly stated that it uses \

he never even used the word "slash" so there's really no reason to get confused

The conflict is not just with another script, even without them it can cause conflicts and some things... Like the case Andar pointed out, that if Ace do use / then whenever you want to use / in text, you'd need to actually use // (since a single / is considered an escape code initializer)... and just think about how many times you might use / in the text as opposed to \?

You'd probably use / a hundred times or more before you even think of a text that has \... so conclusion? \ will be better for an escape code initializer since we don't use it...

Also remember that the \ is not just for Yanfly's, it's an RPG Maker thing...

Yea like I said, when people see a slash(I meant even in visual form ) they naturally think It's the key tied to /.

Ok

That's good to know, I'll have to keep that in mind, thanks.

then I'm not one of the people, coz I see it clearly that it is indeed a \ not a /

but I do like to see a proof as to that claim especially since you claim that it's what people normally think, when you're the first one I saw that have had this very simple problem with Yanfly's script

because IMHO, it's your own way of thinking, not the majority of people's... because if it was indeed what the majority thinks, then there should have been a lot of people who posted that same problem before...

No one pays attention to what way a slash is pointing, because \ is never used anyway, that's what I'm saying, people glance a slash, they click the / key.

No one? Then I don't exist then? Oh crap, all my life I thought I exist...

How many people have you asked/studied to come up with that generalization?

wrong, it's also used in local networking filepaths and a few other positions - everyone even partly into professional computer technology or programming will automatically check whether there is a slash or a backslash in any code- or escape-sequence or path description.
Just because you personally don't know that and don't make much discussions with people who work in those field, doesn't mean that no one uses backslash. On the contrary a lot of people do, because the backslash is the standard for a lot of escape code sequences (not only text code sequences in RM)
