Hello all, I had some things that I needed to ask about because I wanted them to happen in my project, like the title says, i'm not sure if i'm just blind or if RPGmaker 2003 just can't do what I want it to.

I have sprite sheets that are entirely just one character, with different outfits. This first one is incomplete but it is what i'm testing things with.

While working on this sheet, I had the ingenious idea of making some events that could only happen based on if this character, say, was wearing the outfit farthest to the right (Halloween costume.) I already know how to make an event where the sprites can be changed to a different outfit via show choice, but now i'm stuck. I wanted to make an event where this character changed into the Halloween outfit and scared another character. However, I hit a wall because the only options in the event menu for preconditions are this:

There isn't anything for specific sprites, and the closest I have so far is giving the character a potion for the event to actually take place on a new page, but I feel like that's a little too much and won't work for the way I need it to be. All I need is some help.

Is giving the character a specific item the only way to get close to sprite specific events, or should I be using something else like switches? I'm assuming switches, I just need a bit of guidance here. :kaocry:

RMMV
Use variables. Have one variable for "outfit", and in your Show Choice, change it to a different value for each outfit. (when it's 1, it's "normal clothes", when it's 2, it's "halloween outfit", etc).

Then you can either use the variable as a condition on the event page, so you can have multiple event pages with different actions depending on the variable (outfit), or just use a single event page with conditional branches to do different things depending on the variable's value.

I have no experience with 2K/2K3 so I don't know what options you have with the Variable in Preconditions - if it lets you say "variable X is equal to 1", that'd be great. Later engines only have "equal to or greater" which makes it a bit more messy (you've got to have one page for "equal to" and another for "greater" if you only want something to happen if it's exactly that value).

Thank you so much! I'm going to try this out, if it doesn't work i'll be back here with update but if it does this will help immensely. I was tired of making specific useless items to trigger certain events and this will definitely help me in the long run. Again, thank you so much!

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
