What do you mean "aren't showing up in the engine itself"? The maps are blank after you copy them, or they don't show up on the map list at all?
They dont show up on the map list

That would mean you're not copy/pasting them correctly. Open two instances of RPG Maker MZ, one with your corrupted project, and one with your backup. Copy the map from the corrupted project, and paste it directly onto the map list of the backup.

Edit: If that doesn't work, and you're sure you are following the steps correctly, then I can only assume the map on the corrupted project is more corrupted than it appears and RPG Maker MZ is not recognizing it as a map, or something along those lines. In which case this method won't work.

Don't think that'll matter but you could certainly try it. The steps I've outlined are exactly how I do it when I need to move maps from backups to the project in active development, and I've never run into an issue.

As I posted in my edit above, if this isn't working, your corrupted project's maps may be so corrupted that RPG Maker MZ may not be recognizing them as maps. But that's just an assumption.

Edit: You are copying one map at a time right?

In the corrupted file i have lost the map infos file as well, so for the new maps i don’t got the information about them. I can remeber the tilesets for them, but i cant remeber the measurements, is there another file that may show me the measurements of the maps ?, because if i could rename the new maps and put in the measurment to match the map files then that could work.

In the corrupted project, if you select a map to view, you don't see the map's details on the bottom right of your screen? And you can't right click the map, click edit, and see map details there either?

Other than that I unfortunately don't know of any way to view a specific map's measurements, if the map itself was built entirely in-engine. Outside of counting the tiles on the map itself :p.

For future reference I think it's good practice to use a mapshot plugin like OrangeMapshotMZ to take screenshots of maps and store them somewhere safe. If you had that, you could simply open the screenshot in gimp, turn on a 48x48 grid, and view measurement data there.

You might still be able to do that in your corrupted project perhaps? Might be worth a try. Here is a link to the plugin: https://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?threads/orange-mapshot-mz.153237/

Edit: Super simple to use. With the plugin added and turned on, press Print Screen on your keyboard, and the plugin creates a new folder in your project directory called mapshots that has an exact picture of your map which you can then edit in gimp or clipstudio or whatever.

Thanks for the link, but i dont know if it will work. I got the map files and copy and pasted all of them one by one into the project. The files with existing maps took the changes, but the new maps that were pasted in didn’t show up in the engine.

Rgr that, perhaps someone else will hop onto the thread with some further advice, but that's about as far as I can get ya. Sounds to me like the stuff you can't copy over is just too corrupted to be recognized.

@Niniann you forgot a step in your description, that is why it didn't work for @D_Draco

Make sure you have a backup of your damaged project, if you don't have and the files in the new project are your only ones, get them out of that folder.

check the maximum number of the map files you have to restore (map ID, is in the file name)

Go to the new project where those maps are supposed to go.
create new maps until the map numbers are up to and include the map number you found above.
Do not do anything else on those maps!!!

Copy the mapfiles you want to restore into the project, overwriting the now existing blank maps.

Finished, the maps should now be visible although you'll have to resort them and recheck all transfers.

alright heres a checklist
-create new blank project
-make maps until they match the amount
-copy and paste map files.

if these are correct then i followed your steps correctly but it still doesn't work.

The steps are correct and they worked for hundreds of people before,
so either the map files are corrupted as well, or you did something wrong on the steps.

what do you see after following the steps? "doesn't work" is an idiotic description because it tells us nothing.

Don't worry I did another thing along the lines of what you said and it worked, thank you.
