Baisically I brought this. The ancient dungeons winter tileset. Only to be upset and discover it is for VX Ace and not MV (IT REALLY needs to state this on the sales page). What can i do now or will this be a waste of 19.99 dollars? I do not own photoshop so I am pretty stuck...

Worry not: since VX Ace and MV use the same image format, you can use the tileset in MV. You just need to adjust the size of tiles and/or use a plugin which changes the tile size since MV's default tile size is 48x48 and Vx Ace's is 32x32.

For adjusting the image size, I'd suggest a free software like GIMP or Paint.net. Pretty much any image editing software should work as long as it supports transparency (which means that Microsoft Paint doesn't work - don't use it).

As for the plugin, there is at least Shaz's Change Tile Size, and the opening post in the thread has quite good instructions on how to use the plugin and set up your tilesets.

The sales page does state "optimized for Ace" directly under the title...

However, all you need to do is to resize the tilesheets - if you don't have Photoshop, then use GIMP or paint.net or another free program (NOT MS Paint) for the resizing.

If you search this forum, you'll find several tutorials telling how to resize Ace resources for MV, some of them even using online converters where you don't need to download anything.

Below the pack title on the store page it clearly says Optimized for: followed by the Ace icon..

You can resize it using GIMP or Paint.net and whatever else image editing program you have

I use Celianna's tiles in MV. I do this by parallax mapping. By combining them with REFMAP/Looseleaf characters it works quite well in my opinion. It is more work though.

No need for Photoshop, GIMP is adequate.

I'm using those tiles, without resizing, in MV, with the Change Tile Size plugin.

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
