My Bad.

Evil can be grossly exaggerated, and some stories fail to recall the tragedies caused by the hands of the 'hero' themselves. Is gifted power always given to those who deserve it? Are they chosen to save to world, or to send it further into ruin?

Cheron is one of those unfairly gifted heroes, chosen by the Goddess of Light to vanquish the evil that lurks in the world. Except he had a poor judgment of what that evil was.

At the age of seven-and-a-half, Cheron killed the Emperor, who ruled the nation that was the center of world trade. The result of the Emperor split that Empire into five city-states that want nothing to do with each other, severing all trade across the old Empire and sending its Economy down the drain. Twenty years later, Cheron is now a symbol of unnecessary chaos and now lives in the mountains as a hermit knowing his face will inflict hatred or despair to the public.

["I Vanquished the Empire as a Kid and Now the Economy is Crap", or otherwise can be referred to as IVEKNEC, is a game about rebuilding the economy using a Town-Expansion system heavily inspired by Terranigma on the SNES. Completing quests in the game's world encourages trades between towns, allowing them to develop, gain new faculties and services, and sell new items and equipment.

New screenshot for the game's field to be featured in the next chapter. WIP
I'm not used to mapping more open locations, so if anyone with experience has any tips I'm all ears.

The premise of this game seems fun.

As for the latest map : Try to 'randomize' the trees a bit more as they now all stand pretty much on the same diagonal line making them appear more planted then natural. Als try to make the grass more irregular (one way of doing that is using 2 different colors of grass overlapping each other instead of a solid block of one color grass). Roughening up the cliff-side couldn't hurt either but isn't as much of a thing (to me). Finally I would edit those rocks in Gimp/Photoshop to add some smaller stones or grass at the base of them to make them more naturally fitting the environment.

Over all though I do like the map as it has a certain 'atmosphere' to it :D

Hope that helps

These are some good tips. Maybe I'm just trying to make it too organized for its own good.
Thankfully this map isn't too big, so I'll try again partially from scratch with this in mind.

I know this a year late, but I enjoyed playing your game IVEKNEC, what stood out to me was the self aware and subversive writing. There were two instances that subverted my expectations in a positive way. Those being killing Cheron's potential "rival" and the goblins actually being friendly but unaware of cultivating their own community.

The battles are challenging however, there are very limited amount of options of recovery once your HP gets too low and Alice is dead or she won't be able to act in time. Maybe Cheron learn a skill that gives one ally HP 7% to 10% recovery for 3 turns so he could help with recovery. It would make sense narratively because he is the chosen hero of the Goddess of light and the element of light is synonymous with healing.

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!

I've been tinkering with the battle mechanics since this demo, and yeah, I agree resources are a bit too limited. I'll play around with your suggestion.

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
