I have spent hours and hours trying to do this - I've had a preposterous amount of difficulty trying to do something that should be relatively simple.  I've tried paint and Gimp and even a utility I found.

What I want to do is this - I want to use the huge icon sheet, but instead of replacing the original one, I want to add it to the bottom of the original so all of the 'defaults' don't get overwritten.  I seriously can't believe how long I've been trying to do this with no success.  Can someone please tell me *exactly* what to do using Gimp?  Thanks

The simplest way to do this is to

export 'IconSet' and open it up in GIMP

Make a blank sheet exactly the same width as IconSet with the grid set to 24x24 so you can check you've lined up everything correctly.

Make it as long as you like - this is the only tile sheet where there is no length restriction, just a width one.

copy/paste IconSet to it

Copy/paste all the other icons you want underneath.

Save as IconSet - you need to use the default name, so you might want to save it to a different folder.

Import your new file IconSet back into Graphics/systems

Every icon is now available.

On a side issue - if it is the Big Icon Set that you're using, some of the icons are rips, so be careful about which ones you use.

No the easiest way is....

There is a script out that lets you use multiple sheets in any project. Just find it and don't paste your icons together. Easy as eating pie.

I think it may be by Tsukihime...maybe Division Heaven?

if you do use gimp turn your grid lines on and make the 16 pixels by 16 pixels or is it 32x32? Then just line them up but Im too lazy for that now since I found that script.

Guys - there is something I'm missing.  Nothing I do works and it's about to make me lose interest in the engine altogether.  Trying to create the image in Gimp just causes coloration and transparency issues.

Why would it cause coloration issues or transparency issues? you may need to add an alpha layer to the icon image to allow transparencies.

RMMV
One's probably 16-bit and one's 32-bit or something like that. Convert them both to the same colour index (whichever one is higher) first, and then combine them.

For coloration problems, perhaps it is because the default iconset is an indexed image? Also, GIMP handle transparency just fine, although if you are copying from image with partial transparency to an indexed image (that only support full transparency) it is bound to have problems.

The solution is easy. in GIMP, change the iconset's color mode to RGB.

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such? No-one c
