So I've been mulling over the idea of introducing cantrip spells to battle. Now to elaborate for those who have no prior Magic: The gathering or Dungeons & Dragons background, a cantrip is a spell that cost little to no mana and does not use up a spell slot (or draws you a card to replace it in MTG). Anyway, I was wondering what you guys think about having cantrips in combat? Like casting Gust as a free action that does damage and allows you to cast a second spell that turn without using your MP on two spells? (Idea taken from D&D) Like, you still have to pay for the second spell but you don't pay for the cantrip. Now, of course I'd have to limit the mechanic to where you can only cast 1 cantrip per turn cause I can just see now someone breaking the mechanic by casting an infinite amount of cantrips in one turn thereby purposely killing their opponent via grapeshot storm....

Anyway, please tell me what you guys think! I'm trying to figure out what ideas I can add to my game.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
