Okay, so, like most of us here, I'm making a (horror)game!
I have a lot of problems when it comes to giving information to the players/readers of my stuff. I like there to be tons of goody questions, so that it all comes together in the end and the reader/player is like "OOHHHHHH THAT MAKES SENSE."
But, I don't want them to be totally confused.
So, I need a way to give them enough information to at least not be over whelmed by the mass of characters in the beginning of the game. To show you what I mean, I'm going to list the characters currently in-use.
Ellie Richter (the player,) Ruby Kellar, Renee Kellar, Opal Kellar and Krystal Kellar. Also a "???" character that will be revealed later on.
So, a lot of Kellars all at once.
And, in the game, I haven't introduced them with their last names.
The easiest way to tackle this would probably be for people to play the demo I have. But, I don't want to force you people into something like that. (My post in Early Development: http://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?/topic/42006-find-ruby/ in case you'd like to help me out. It's like maybe 5-10 minutes of game play depending on how fast you can read.)
Basically, I want to know what the easiest way is to describe characters in the very beginning of a game. I've tried using the character bio script by Soulpour777, it works and everything but the player would only be able to look at it AFTER all the beginning cut-scenes.
I have boxes that show who is talking, I could just put their last names in there and maybe leave it up to the player to figure out how people are related through the events? I want a good amount of mystery, but not total confusion. Hope this all makes sense. D:
I also tried making a scene before the actual game begins where the player is asked if they want information on the characters, and gives them a selection of names, but I still feel like that isn't quite right. As I want to make my game enjoyable for people, I'm open for suggestions!

Another thing is character pictures (like when they're talking and stuff)
At first I was like "I don't want to do that" but now I feel like it'll make the game a whole lot better.
But, the issue I have is my drawing style. It's very chibi-ish and kinda cute. I can draw "real" people. But, that's just not my normal thing. I figured that, if I did the character pictures, it would be busts instead of the tiny square on the left side.
I also thought about commissioning someone to draw the pictures. But, I haven't looked into that enough. I feel weird doing that for some reason.
I wanted to know if it might take away from the creepiness if I were to use my normal style, versus the "real" people style. I also can't get my tablet and GIMP to cooperate, that's more than annoying.
Examples of my art:
If you guys have any suggestions for me I'd be more than happy to hear them! If anything is confusing feel free to just say it! I want to get my point across!
