Yes, because post-apocalyptic was a genre way before fallout.I have an idea from a dream I had many years ago, and I thought it sounds like a decent idea for a game. The world suffers an world ending event and as a result, people are sent into underground centers to wait for the day that it is safe. A group of students and a teacher wake up to find that the group that they were with are now dead and that they are the only survivors. They were told to head back to the nearby city to meet up with other people from other centers, only to discover large strange creatures who call the city home. This was WAY before I had ever heard of fallout, strangely enough, so I was wondering if I could make it into a game without people thinking of Fallout.
