A chess anime.

I liked hikaru no go (go anime) and shion no ou (shogi ). akagi (mahjong). I don't think one exists, but if chess becomes more popular in Japan, one might be made.

@demonhead:  There's also Chihayafuru which is about a very Japanese game called karuta.  I'm sure it'll happen eventually.  I mean, there's an anime about American style football, of all things.

I'd make an anime that blends my favorite parts of Shonen and Shoujo series.  My very favorite series have all been ones that blend the distinction a bit, like Magic Knight Rayearth or Slayers.  Most Shoujo series are too focused on the whole relationships aspect (friends, romance) making the pacing slow, and most Shonen series have so much focus on the action that the characterization is flat.  Both get repetitive and boring or keep the tension at the same level the whole series, leaving me feeling burned out.

I'm writing a manga with some friends of mine that blend a lot of things, like Shonen and Shoujo anime stereotypes.  If we make it really amazing and popular maybe it'll get an anime someday.  That would be awesome!

I'm writing a couple urban fantasy novels, and I like those types of anime, but I also love simple comedy or slice of life anime, and space operas. I would love to create something like Outlaw Star or Ouran High School Host Club.

Angel Beats was amazing, but I wouldn't be able to make something like that without weeping uncontrollably.

Host Club in Space would be an unusual twist on the genre.  I'd watch!
