I'm interested in incorporating LODs battle mechanic

I really want to use some action game mechanics, similar to that of Legend of dragoon or Squalls trigger action in FFVIII. 


From as far as I can tell there's no plugin been made yet that can do this, if I'm wrong I'm sorry but did search first.


If anyone knows of anything that can do this or would also like to implement please post here as I'm greatly interested in what anyones views or knowledge.

We cannot answer that question unless you describe what LOD is - you can't expect others to have played the same games as you do, and "something like <unknown obscure game XY>" does not help others.


That said, if you're talking about ABS plugins, no those aren't available yet for any half-way complex action battle system. Only the most simple ones are currently available, and most probably that won't change for some months of development.

I didn't expect people to know what LOD is or to of played the same games as me, I'm not that ignorant. I only used LOD to keep the title short.


If you read my post properely you would of seen that I cleary named it in full, "Legend of Dragoon" class game  btw, then I further went on to describe squalls trigger action in a very well known game that is more often abreviated as FFVIII to try and null any possible confusion. Only issue I thought anyone would have would be about how I'd want the battle mechanic to work, but you seemed to of gotten that point without any further explaination needed.


Guess I need to learn java and try to come up with my own, only issue I suck at coding. Graphics I'm ok with but damn I hate code lol.

You're missing the point. When requesting a script or plugin, you need to describe what you're talking about. It's one thing to say, 'It's this particular mechanic from FF8', and another thing to describe what that mechanic is and what it does. (Or, alternatively, provide a video that shows that mechanic happening.)


I have played FF8 and I have no idea what you're talking about. Likewise, other people might not know what you're describing. Yes, there will be those who will understand, but the only contribution they will make towards this thread is, 'The OP is talking about this...' and proceed to explain what you're trying to tell them. Trust me, it happens enough that programmers will look at this and ignore it.


As a general rule of thumb, you should look over your post and think, 'Does this require people to google or read my mind to understand what I'm asking?' If it does, then re-write the post to include detail.


On a final note, I think this topic should go into 'Plugin Requests', rather than 'Game Mechanics Design'.

Thanks Diretooth, maybe you've a point, but Andar did obviously miss that I named the game in the main body. This is my first post and tbh I didn't want to post here as I've seen alot of "friction" and "attitude" to posters, I've been here since VX too. I honestly thought I had enough material in, but wanted to keep it short so as people wouldn't need to go through a book to get to what I was getting at and Andar got the point anyway.


I'll certainly keep all this in mind. In regards to location of post I wasn't sure if it should of been there or here. My bad.


Here's Squalls timing, LOD had the option for each attack to be timed and each hit successfully timed gave a critical hit, missed timing caused searver dmg reduction.

I believe those are called Action Commands.


Perhaps searching 'Action Command' in the forum search will turn something up.

I will search that now. I've been looking over other plugins codes to see how they work, so even I it's not out there hopefully I could manage it. Although not being pessimistic, I doubt I've the skill. So really really hoping it's out there.

There's nothing out there yet that can do this.


Hopefully someone will come up with a plugin able to do this, but it would be near last on my list to do, just before the art. Want the main game playable befor I spend X amount of time adding flare.
