Working on a little side project that has a Gameboy look to it. Visually it looks great:

Buuut I have some problems. I don't have music, sound effects or animations to match it. The animations, I could live without since it's somewhat understandable for a Gameboy game to have nothing but flickering sprites for attacks, but they would be nice to have.

But I definitely need music and sound effects. There's a few 8-bit songs in the Restaff packs and I used a few of them (the Field1 and 8 bit madness songs) but I don't really think the others available in Restaff are fitting for my project. So what I need is a few royalty-free songs to use which have the 8-bit sound to them. Specifically, I need a town theme, a dungeon theme, a battle theme, and maybe something for scenes and the title screen. But really, just throw anything you've got at me.

Sound effects are another big thing. I need more bleeps and bloops. The RTP sound effects just ain't gonna cut it for this project.

So please, if you know of anything that already exists of this nature, please link me to it.

It's quite easy to find what you're looking for, on a quick google search I found these.

Some sound effects-

Some music-

http://8tracks.com/explore/8bit

http://www.8bitpeoples.com/

BTW, that's one awesome looking title screen, but the font doesn't seem to be the most appropiate. Maybe you could look into finding something a little more retro looking.

Yeah, I only started this last night, so I haven't found a good font yet. Suggestion?

Also a lot of the links that you gave me lead to dead links or pay sites. I did find some decent sound effects from that downloadfreesound website but they seem more Atari-like than Gameboy-like.

Here is one of my favorite places to find 8-bit/Chiptune music:

Is it just me or does it not play a preview? I click the play button but it does nothing.

Well, I'm no expert on game boy, so I can't really help you much. Though they probably sound Atari-ish because I ran a search for 8-bit resources when it should have been 4-bit. My bad :p

Are you sure there's not a problem on your end? Because I could open all the sites just fine. About there being several pay sites...my bad again.

But, seriously, that was only the first page of the search, my point was pointing out that it's REALLY easy to find a lot of resources about this online.

Have fun with your project ;)

You could also do searches for "retro" and "4 bit", and check out Open Game Art if you haven't yet.

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving!
